4.5 stars Wow! Ring Shout is historical fiction, fantasy, horror, and action packed. Set in the 1920s during the rise of the Ku Klux Klan, Maryse, our heroine along with amazing women warriors are fighting literal monsters bred out of hate. The use of strong female leads, the love of family, friends, and community, and the perfect blend of magic were what I loved most about this book.

I really liked this! The story is super unique and fun. This demonic enemy of the Klux is a fun alt history/ twist to have and as a reimagining it was done super well. My only knock against this book isnt actually a knock. I struggled at times with reading conversations because I havent been exposed to that type of dialect in my life. Representation of that dialect is important and culturally relavant to the characters of this story. So I cant take points for something that is just a failing for me. I moreso put it in this review as a heads up to people who want to read this that there may be parts that are confusing and slower for you to read but stick with it! There is gold inside this one
