I really did not like this book. It took me a really long time to get into and the plot just didn't grab my attention. I am not a huge fan of the memory loss trope, however, this did have an interesting spin as the character couldn't recognise faces. This should have added more tension and the reveal should have been more shocking but the reveal just didn't have the shock factor that I was expecting.
The book seemed to have a lot of build up with a lot of lengthy descriptions that I didn't think were particuarly necessary. The ending and the final reveal felt quite rushed. I also didn't really like the main character or connect with her.
Overall I was disappointed with this book as I have read previously from the author and enjoyed her work. This one just didn't work for me unfortunately and I found it to be full of cliches and be very predictable. Despite this I still want to read the author's other books as I think she has some interesting plot ideas.

I received an eARC for the publishers and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, thank you so much!
This book was so good! I was not expecting it. Around 75% into it I still had no concrete evidence on who it was or what for sure had happened. I had one fleeing moment of "What if it's (no spoilers lol)! But no it can't be, that would be so messed up." And well.....yeah.....

o cholera.
Styl pisania cudowny.

Hard pass on this one. Took me forever to get through it. I picked up many books and finished those, in between reading this one. I’ve read many more thrillers that are fast paced and keep my attention..not sure why I’m missing what others are raving about. Or, it could be I’ve read so many thrillers at this point that it takes a lot to surprise me and keep my attention I suppose.

Arc Book Review
Release Date-21/5/18
"The Date" was my first book by this particular author and I really did enjoy it.
I was rapt and invested from the very first instance here.
A mystery told from Ali's and her enemies POV, an enemy who we have no idea; along with Ali the identity of.
So during this, I was glued to the emerging picture with an almost obsessive compulsion.
Watching with a rapt fascination usually reserved for my current favourite TV show.
This was, in my opinion, psychological warfare at its very finest and I can't recommend "The date" enough, especially if you're looking for something to compel and confound you all at the same time.
This one's is a tricky one to describe without giving the whole game away so I'm not going to go into any great detail here.
This story's blurb really does sell itself, how could you not want to delve deeper and discover more after that intriguing description.
Also using the medical condition Prosopagnosia, which to put it in its more understandable form Face Blindness, was absolute genius.
Adding this unique aspect to "The Date" took this for me to a whole new level.
Such one-off circumstances created a scenario where anything and everything is possible, no matter how remote and improbable that occurrence could actually be.
This also had more twists and turns than a fairground rollercoaster and I changed my mindset on a hairpin frequently with the sheer abundance of red herrings thrown in my path.
These diversions only purpose that I could ascertain was to confuse and muddy the already churning waters I was currently occupying.
The author really has done a remarkable job of weaving her mysterious web here, managing to entangle me within the threads of this tale with her oh so vivid imagination.
This was a fantastic read that's really a no-brainer for me to recommend; loved everything about it.
Happy to give this one my seal of approval.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of "The Date" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Amazing book! Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Can't wait to read more of her books!
This is my second book I’ve read, reviewed, and rated 5 stars, by Louise Jensen. This book is definitely a page turner. Ali had to grow up tormented by what her father did and then again with her mom’s illness. She goes on one date and her life is flipped upside down again. Her husband is about to do the unthinkable out of love and there’s so many twists and turns that will have you guessing time and time again on who is out to get Ali. The ending is definitely a shocker over all this book is by far one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read thus far.
Ali Taylor has recently separated from her husband and following encouragement from her friends she goes on a date . However the next morning she wakes up with no memory of the date night and she is covered in blood. Worse still when she looks in the mirror she doesn't recognise her own reflection . What happened that night and who is out to harm Ali ?
Wow ! This was an absolutely fantastic Psychological Thriller . I was sucked right in from the first page. This book kept me guessing right up to the final chapters . It's a book filled with suspense and intrigue . I have read all of Louise Jensens books and they just keep getting better and better. Highly recommend for fans of psychological thrillers.

What should have been a good night out turns into a nightmare for Ali. I have to admit I have never come across the condition that Ali ends up finding herself with after a blow to the head. She is unable to recognise people's faces. I couldn't begin to imagine how hard it must be to try and carry on as normal living with it. Not recognising a husband, a friend. Was certainly very intriguing learning about it.
Not only can poor Ali not recognise people, she can't remember what happened on her night out. The story flicks between Ali and an unknown character that obviously means her harm. We have no idea who this person is and boy was it fun trying to work out who it was. I was so sure I had worked it out and was feeling so smug waiting for it to be confirmed only to be well and truly wrong and pretty gobsmacked to say the least.
This is such a tense read. You can feel it building throughout the story and I was racing through the pages to see how it was going to turn out. I found Ali's past as intriguing as what was going on in the present and readers certainly won't be disappointed.
The Date is a heart stopping read! The author took me on an extremely twisted journey so I had no clue whether I was coming or going. This book ticks everything I want and would expect from this genre. Loved it!
My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

This was ok, I saw the big twist coming. Other than that, it felt like the book was trying too hard to be shocking, while also not fleshing out bare minimum things. I feel like it needed less twists, and to just focus more on the core part of the story.
