Interesting analysis and history of the deadly sins and its impact on American society. However, I struggled to engage with the book at times. It was repetitive, and I felt it could've been done without the personal anecdotes.  Most of them I didn't find relatable or interesting. Some were tone deaf (especially the greed chapter). I also disliked the New Age spiritual self-help parts like what you'd find on Goop. The book felt largely targeted to upper-middle class cis white women over 35, which is the author's background. I was hoping for something more academic and with more depth and less of a memoir/personal journal.

Still, I gained value from reading this. Though I didn't love the book, it makes a great springboard for discussion.
