I enjoyed it but I think I liked A good girls guide to murder a little more!

In an interesting turn of events, I liked this better than the first book. Just by a little bit. I still think the first one is better overall, but that book was primarily entertaining for me, and this one pulled at my heartstrings in a way that the first one didn’t. I loved the focus on Pip’s character and her development away from being “good,” or even knowing what “good” is. I ended up relating to her a lot by the end, which I didn’t expect. I think every woman (or maybe every person) has a scream inside her that’s begging to come out; I know I do at least. I recognized it as soon as she spoke about it. I’ve never been able to fully let that scream out, but it was so satisfying getting to see Pip do it.
I also loved her reconciliation with Nat Da Silva, they have such an interesting relationship and parallels.
Despite all that, this didn’t quite hit 5 stars for me. As cute as Pip and Ravi are, their relationship was a little lukewarm in this. Ravi did have some decent character moments, but most of the time he felt kinda static. I also don’t really get the decisions Pip made with her podcast.
I know her posting the investigation ended up being mostly helpful, but I don’t get why she would post all the information she had about an ongoing investigation, giving the people who did it everything they needed to outwit her? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Also, Charlie Green ended up being pretty obvious as soon as he had that conversation with Pip about justice. I didn’t know what he was getting justice for until later, but I was already suspicious of him so I was like yep, that’s our guy. Speaking of, though, the Child Brunswick plot line was super interesting, I kinda wish it had been introduced earlier.
Overall, I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would, it was a fun and surprisingly heart-pulling read. Oh also, there’s a British version and an American version?? I read the American version for the first book and the British version for this book. Whoops.

I found this one to be a little slower than the first. It picks up right where the first one left off with the trial currently going on around Max Hastings (accused rapist from first book). Although the author did a great job doing a recap, it felt like there was a dozen characters I simply didn’t care about. Basically, Pip’s friend’s (Connor) brother (Jamie) goes missing so she decides to put her detective hat back on and help find him. In the end, the twists were good, but again I just felt like I didn’t care about the characters involved and the book dragged for the first half. I did like the part Nat played but where was Sal the whole book? Even the final reveal I felt kinda meh about. I think this book suffers from middle-book syndrome - but I look forward to seeing where the third goes as based on what I’ve seen the plot revolves more around Pip… and I can’t help but think Max Hastings will be involved somehow…

Also I love how Pip’s Dad calls her Pickle. That is all.

3.6⭐️? Wow that was very emotional and tense. The last part of the book was intense. But most of the book was ok.
