This was an enjoyable story. There were sweet moments, especially the final scene at the ball, the romance in general was cute, nice, and sweet. However while I liked the characters and the story for some reason wasn't completely swept away with the romance. I didn't feel there was enough passion or sexual tension for me.

I liked the secondary characters, Amy, Georgette, Julianne, Hawk, and a few others.

I'm not a fan of the competition aspect but thankfully this didn't bother me enough to stop reading.

Overall, besides a few things here and there, it was a good quick read.

When I reread this after watching bridgerton s2, it strongly gave me similar vibes as the show. I really like this book quite a lot, only wish there had been an epilogue. The matchmaking trope is one of my favourites, and while the name of the book is very run-of-the-mill, the story inside is anything but.

I had kind of forgotten that I had read this book before and got to reread it with almost fresh eyes. Enjoyed it a lot, will read again. The vintage "The Bachelor" thing was fun to read, albeit a bit unbelievable at times. Had to suspend my disbelief a lot at times.

It's funny when I was about a third of the way through I thought this would be a 4 star read but I get easily frustrated when the characters are stubborn over admitting feelings like I want to be with her all the time and I only think of her and she's the fucking AIR THAT I BREATHE but I don't love her. Love is stupid and doesn't exist. Cue my internal screaming. Anyway it was still cute and of course there was an hea but I wish he hadn't been so stubborn for so long

Tristan is in the market of finding a wife. At a ball where is doing just that, he meets Tessa. He is instantly attracted to her, but he doesn't know her true identity.

Tessa is a unwed spinster matchmaker. She herself refuses to ever marry. Although she too is attracted to Tristan, she knows nothing will ever come of the attraction due to her refusal to ever marry and his rakish reputation.

So Tristan sets out to snag Tessa's matchmaking services to aid him in finding a suitable bride. The book unfolds like season 11 of The Bachelor. Tristan has twenty-four lovely, and not so lovely, ladies competing for the title of Duchess.

From earlier on in the story we learn of a secret that Tessa has been keeping, and only has shared it with her late uncle. You can tell she suffers from extreme guilt from this secret, but we as the read have no idea what it is. I was constantly wanting to peek ahead just to find out what it was due to her constant discomfort of the secret.

Overall I really enjoyed the story and all of the characters. I especially liked Tristan's best friend, Hawk, and look forward to his very own book. Not only was this a romantic read, but also a comedic read as well. There were many times I found myself laughing , one in particular included a candlestick and some sheep.

This book is a spin on The Bachelor, which I wanted taken even further if it was going to be there at all. But generally a fun read.

Loved it. Wonderful heroine and great dialogue. The final few pages (i.e. the consummation) were rather anticlimactic/rushed but the rest of the book (especially the proposal) was excellent.
