The Best of All

I really enjoyed this book. I love the movie Life as We Know It and this book gave similar vibes. Mira was so precious and I loved how Liam called her Duck. Zoe and Liam’s relationship while bumpy, was really sweet. They were both committed to doing what was best for Mira even though they couldn’t stand each other…at first! I wish we’d gotten to see Mira’s birthday party with Moana and hopefully the end result of Mira’s swimming lessons.

I enjoyed this story more than the first book in the series. Liam and Zoe had the slowest burn ever, and I wasn’t mad about it at all.

I loved the way they became a family around their surprise guardianship of Mira, whose dad was Liam’s best friend and mom was Zoe’s. I thought the banter between the MCs was great. The side characters were a delight.

Here’s where a half star came off because as a mom, I could not for the life of me understand why Mira’s parents would make two people who on the surface hated-or at least COULD NOT BE CIVIL to-each other JOINT guardians of their child. WHAT. ON. EARTH?

Liam Davies and Zoe Valentine have had a contentious relationship for the better part of a decade. When tragedy strikes and the best friends that brought them together both die in a car crash the pair are forced to reexamine their relationship. To their surprise, they have both been granted co-guardianship of their 3 year old god daughter, Mira. Zoe steps up immediately while Liam has some demons giving him pause about the whole parenting thing.
When this story was teased in the first book for the Best Men series, The Best Laid Plans, I was ecstatic as the movie Life as We Know It is one of my favs! The Best of All did not disappoint, I couldn’t read it fast enough. In spite of the extremely heavy subject, Sorensen found ways to make me laugh throughout this book while also pulling on my heart strings big time! My only complaint is that I wish we got more time in the story with Liam and Zoe as a couple. Overall, I would definitely recommend this series but remember to check trigger warnings!

In The Best of All we get:
-slow burn
-forced proximity
-he falls first
-enemies to lovers
-sports romance (football)
-a zany octogenarian book club

A British football player and his friend-in-law (his best friend’s wife’s best friend) are forced to get along when their best friends pass away in a tragic accident and they both have custody over the couple’s only daughter. I probably could’ve explained that better but I literally forgot what the FMC did for a living. The book is good, but forgettable.

Enjoyed the book like the first one the storyline captured my attention to the end. Liked the ending, a very quick read… enemies to lovers without the nonsense.
