Really loved this one. Might be my favorite in the series!

I was a little upset at the beginning because this book took us away from most of the characters we know and even gave Will partial amnesia, so it took almost half the book for me to really get into it. The last quarter is when things really picked up.

I think Will is a good, convincing mix of inexperienced boy and ancient wisdom.

I do not like dialogue where people don't use contractions. It makes them sound robotic.

This is a quote I liked a lot:
"You are like fanatics. Your masters, at any rate. Like the old crusaders-oh, like certain groups in every belief, though this is not a matter of religion, of course. At the center of the Light there is a cold white flame, just as at the center of the Dark there is a great black pit as bottomless as the universe."

This book includes some serious cruelty. I was surprised this book was a Newbery winner. I like the interweaving of Arthurian tales and other British-Isles mythology, but it got boring for me; I figured Will etc would be successful, and I stopped caring how it worked out.

So I learned about Welsh pronunciation and that King Arthur had an albino son... I was not ready at all for this book to end.
