Copy received from The Next Step PR. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.

DNF at 15%

I wanted to get into this book, given all the positive feedback, and I’m sure it’s a great book, but it starts slow. And maybe I wasn’t in the right mood to deal with a slow fantasy book. I took some days away, hoping to return to it, but now having days passed, I have no urge to finish this book. I feel like if I pick it up again, it’ll be out of obligation and there’s too many books on my TBR to trip through such a lengthy read.

DNF. 70% through. This is had promise till you realize that there is little to no world building, the author likes to use tell instead of show repeatedly. Fated mates troupe in this book is the worst, because they don't freaking talk enough to have any connection on page, the chemistry between them is fabricated between the author telling us they grew close and time passes not showing us anything. I will not be finishing.

Yeah no, not for me. Extremely confusing world building as it plays heavily with religious themes. Might work if you grew up with Christianity being an important aspect of your life but I'm an atheist. The only time I saw a church from the inside was on vacation in Italy and for art lessons at grammar school.

Also, confusing characters because there are 7 (I think) characters that start with an A. Why does anyone think that's a wise decision? Especially with the lack of actual descriptions for each character. All I can say is that all 7 are tall and that Aren is very muscular and strong. 🥲

I'm pretty sure that the book has no right to be over 700 pages long either for a slow burn romance and that it would benefit from a good round of editing. Would certainly help with the world building.

*I was given an ARC for an honest review*

Holy cannoli! This book was a adventure! An incredible debut novel, I’m still processing all that happened!

An epic tail about the battle against good and evil, Angels vs. Demon. Fated-Mates trope with a deliciously teasing (slightly tortuous lol) slow-burn romance, and a touch of WORTH THE WAIT spice!

This book is completely action packed, and no dull moments. The author wrote each battle scene so well! The scenes were playing in my head as if I were watching a movie. The character building and world building were just so beautifully written. You literally see the world that they’re in, can almost feel their experiences as if you’re there, and I love how you get to see from both Alvara and August’s point of views. You get to see this story from the both of them, making it a truly well-rounded and in-depth experience.

I just loved this unique plot. I loved how bad-ass our heroine is, and how for once it’s not the female main character that is the one being rescued. I just love Alvara, she’s just so like-able and somehow made relatable, despite being a 300 year old immortal half-Angel with an insane amount of power lol.

There is a lot of religious undertone to this, but even if you aren’t of the Christian faith, I think you can love this book. It is NOT preachy in any way at all. However if Christianity, Angels, the mention of Jesus or God are triggers for you, this won’t be for you. Only other potential triggers I could think of are demon related content, possession, and if battle and gore is triggering.

I am SO excited for this amazing debut book, and will be waiting impatiently for the second! :)

I LOVE this series. So often fantasy world building is overwhelming, this is explained so gradually and so well that I was actually able to comprehend it. Plus the fact that the FMC is the all powerful badass is just amazing. I wish I could read this again for the first time!

I loved this book! It was an absolute page turner!

The first part of the book was a lot of world building but absolutely necessary for the story. The ending was a wild ride!

So many questions and suspicions about some characters! Literally can’t wait for book two!
