The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins

Another one of Collins’ books that made me gasp and laugh out loud multiple times!
Although the serial structure of the novel wasn’t that new to me (after The Woman in White last month) it was still enjoyable and a refreshing change to most of the novels (that I have read) written around the same time.
Loses a star because of Miss Clack’s narrative

Read this for my early British literature class and I really, really enjoyed it, can't wait to read more of Wilkie Collins' works:)

Padded and overly confusing at times, but an absolute joy at others. Now to read ROBINSON CRUSOE

3-3.5 stars - revisited it for a DNF challenge prompt. It’s very long and the multiple books was a bit confusing reading it over multiple days, I would often forget who the narrator was.
When reading classics or historical text I try to imagine myself in the time it was written, and I can see the enjoyment of a “serial” type novel, much like episodes in a tv show.
Overall the “first mystery novel” was a good and I’m glad I gave it a second chance. I’ve already forgotten the ending so maybe I’ll give the second half another go in the future.

10/2019 - Made it to about half way through chapter 11. Hard to get past the awful stereotypes and just not that interesting.
