Informative book about the history of pirates, tales of famous pirates, and piracy in modern times. For students interested in the topic it is a solid introduction but does not offer anything truly new.

Slender, but clear and concise Swashbuckling Scoundrels is a decently factual book on the history of piracy for kids, probably more for those who want a basic background more than any enthusiasts who already consider themselves experts. Clearly meant to capitalize on the popularity of Pirates of the Caribbean, it has at least two pictures of Jack Sparrow. And I have to side-eye the decision to include Vikings in the category of pirates. Sure, if you squint... But overall a good place to start.
