A quick but well-crafted read. Similar to other Pete Enns works, seems like this is what we should be taught in religious ed right from the get-go.

I really enjoyed this book - it was a refreshing look at Genesis.

Did what it needed to do. I’m familiar with the podcast, and while this didn’t feel like a ton of new information, it’s a good introduction to reading Genesis less like an evangelical fundamentalist.

Great book with Enns’ reverence and wisdom

I listen to Pete’s The Bible for Normal People podcast and I really enjoyed his books as well. This is a well-paced book that examines what is often a controversial book and shows the depth of meaning that is there instead of the controversy you might be familiar with.

Not exactly what I expected, but actually helped me “zoom-out” even further to see Genesis for what it is: an ancient story written to ancient readers. That lens is so so helpful and makes it even more beautiful when reading Scripture.

The actual writing of this book is sort of all over the place and a bit hard to follow, but ultimately a quick read and has some great larger concepts to grasp on to and take with you.

This was a good read, although more textbook like than I expected, but good overall since learning new things is good
