Some of the book needed to have a better pace. Some of the book was a little far fetched. The story was pretty good but I needed a stronger connection the some of the characters.

Lisa Barr has written a masterful story of friendship and survival amongst Nazi Germany's art world. I loved this story of three friends and the jealousy, loyalty, and passion that drew them apart. The author's knowledge of art woven through the passages made for a truly beautiful and visual read. Her writing reminded me of the some of the greats, and I already miss the characters. Bravo.

My favorite book I’ve ever read. I  not ever one to read a book twice and this is the only one I have read cover to cover on several occasions.

Stayed up way too late to finish this book last night...and was really sad to see it end.

If you like historical fiction you’ll love this one. Well put together book focusing first on character and then on plot. Characters grow and change with the story. Incredible narration to the point that you forget it’s just once voice as each character is brought to life and at some point you realize that you too can see and feel what Julian felt.

I really loved this book! It will stick with me for a while. I enjoyed the historical period, especially as an art lover. It illustrated how complicated love and war can be.

The author of this book will be speaking at the upcoming Jewish Arts, Authors, Movies & Music Festival in Denver... So glad I got tipped off to this book. I could not put it down!
