I truly enjoyed the Trylle series, so I was very excited to dive back into that world. It is still as wonderful as I remember. I enjoy how relatable Bryn is in this story. She is strong in her beliefs, but has insecurities as well. I am very interested in what secrets Konstantin is hiding. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is because I have a personal aversion to pop-culture references in a story. If those don't bother you, then this is a 5-star book.

A ten konec, to bylo jako co?!
Bryn je postava na zabití, ale rozhodně to je lepší než Tryllové. Tak, jak jsem to nečekala. A autorka má obrovské plus za Tovea. ♥

I unfortunately found this to be incredibly slow paced and just not much happened. Which was unexpected since I really enjoyed the original series. Also the ending was very abrupt. It felt as if I was missing pages, it just ended. At some point I’d like to continue on with the series but I’m in no big rush to do so.

I really enjoyed Amanda's Trylle trilogy (Which I read a while ago) and was really excited when I learned the news of a spin off series being published. I liked Frostbite so much better though, it was easy to fall back into the world that Amanda had created. Even if you haven't gotten around to reading the Trylle trilogy you will have no problem reading Frostfire (Though I do recommend it). Plus these books have really beautiful covers.

Bryn wants to fit it in, but being half Kanin and half Skojare she finds it hard. She's made the best of her situation though, she worked harder then everyone else in school, and bought herself up to one of the best trackers in the Kanin tribe. Four years prior to Bryn's tracking career her father was attacked by Konstantin, someone who Bryn had idolized. Konstantin managed to escape, now leaving him the most wanted man in Kanin. Years later when Bryn is out on a mission to bring back a changeling, she never expected to cross paths with Konstantin.

I loved Bryn, she is incredibly strong. She lives in a tribe where she stands out with her pale skin, blue eyes and blond hair, and is constantly judged and looked down upon because of it. Where most people with fade away to avoid the spot light Bryn only worked harder to become the tracker she is, and to reach her goal of being an Hogdragen. Bryn is dedicated to her work, even when she knows it is dangerous she wants to be out there doing it. At the same time though she is struggling with her feelings towards Konstatin, does she trust him? Is he really only a pawn in this all? I loved the small struggles that Hocking out her through. Being in a relationship, her loyalty towards the people she loves.

I expected more romance then we really got, I am a little disappointed about that. Though I am happy to see there is no love triangle yet, which I really hope she stays away from this time around. Ridley is Bryn's boss, which makes him off limits to her, and he has a girlfriend (Yup.) Slowly over time though Bryn has come to realize that her feelings aren't just friendly towards him, she craves something more. But Bryn also doesn't like commitment. But underneath it all there is a connection between them that I hope will come out in the next two books in the series. (I also have a big crush on Ridley, so I want to see him and Bryn together very badly!)

Hocking has a talent for world building. She created the world of Trylle, and now using a similar world created the Kanin who is another tribe. I did feel that there were a few things missing, I hope they do get filled in as the series goes on.

The ended was a cliff hanger, and left me with no idea where the next book is going to take us. Which is the same thing that happened with the Trylle trilogy. My favorite part about this series is that all the books will be published in 2015 so I won't have to wait years to know how it will all end. Overall, I am really looking forward to book two!

SPOILER ALERT! Ne. No táááák. Tohle byl prostě pokus o originalitu zabitý ještě dřív než se to objevilo na stránkách. Přidává se nám Vikingský původ trollů žijících v Americe? nebo v Kanadě? doteď ani pořádně nevím. Kdyby to radši zůstalo u lidí, když už. A nakonec hlavní hrdinka. Takhle pitomou nánu jsem v knihách ještě nepotkala. Co to jako prostě bylo? Věčně se jenom vzteká, má horkou hlavu, všechno by nejradši udělala sama. Nikdo jiný není lepší než ona, prostě skvělá superwoman. Věčně se hádá s rodiči, protože ona přece ví všechno nejlíp. Škoda, že je úplně tupá. A třešničku na dort nasadila svými stavy: já ho asi miluju, ale nesmím si to dovolit, ale hrozně žárlím, ale nechci vztah, ale chci ho, nechci ho...musím ho zabít, chci ho zabít, nemůžu ho zabít, musím ho zabít ale nechci ho zabít. Tohle bylo jedno velké KLIŠÉ, lituju ztracený čas nad touto knihou a autorce se budu obloukem vyhýbat.

"I would stop at nothing until he was brought to justice"

Hey guys, so I finished Frostfire (Kanin Chronicles, #1) by Amanda Hocking and well, I kind of expected better. I expected, more? This book was alright, I mean, it had a general purpose ish. There was a plot, kind of. However, the book just seemed to wander aimlessly. it was like it would begin in one direction then decide it didnt like where that was heading so it veered off to another direction then turned in an entirely different direction. I don't know, maybe I was just not feeling this novel or something, but eh. Everything just seemed bland and tasteless, surface level writing. Although it had some action, it was over just as quick as it began. Yes, there was an aura of mystery shrouding this entire novel, which was nice and all. But, in my opinion, the "mystery element harmed the novel by the end of it, more than it helped it. The way the novel ended just left me, the reader, with too many questions and too little answers. Maybe that was deliberate in order to get the reader to buy the second book? If it was, it wasn't executed that well. Remember though, these are all my opinions, take them for what they are worth. The novel's ending just left me disatisfied and unwilling to even venture to the second novel if it meant more of the story just going round and round in circles trying to make up its mind. Other than the storyline that just seemed to drag and have little fluffs and feelings and whatever, the characters were alright. Bryn seemed motivated enough. She wanted to prove her worth and loyalty. But she wasnt too blindly loyal that she would turn a blind eye to the real happenings around her. She was determined and unwavering. And, she didnt seem to let her feelings for her boss impede her own goals. For the most part. As for the boss, *coughs* he let his feelings fly freely. He didnt even try to disguise them. I suppose I liked how protective he was and kind and considerate he seemed to be, but eh. He was a bit too open, honest and "friendly". He was just...I dont know. He was a guy, a nice guy. Now, the real winner of this novel was Kon. He was the one who kept me going. I never knew what he was going to do next. He was unpredictable and wild. And so mysterious. No one knew what to think of him, no one. No one knew his motives, or his ultimate goals, the whys were totally absent. He was just very intriguing. Sadly, not enticing enough that I would continue the series for him. All in all, it was an okay story, the descriptions were nice and the writing was fine, it just wasnt for me, apparently. Alright, so as always, if you guys have any questions or comments, drop em below. Till next time, bye.
