This was just... wow. I couldn't put it down. I related to this so much, sometimes it really does feel like reporting something like that does make your life worse rather than the offender. This was really powerful and an amazing read.

Overall, I liked it. In the beginning, the book felt very over-described but then that writing quirk fell away - it was almost like the authors had to "set the scene" and then it was mostly unnecessary after that so only differences were noted. But plot-wise, it was interesting and I really got into what Marin was going through. Although 43yo me immediately sniffed out a creeper teacher when it was noted very early in the book that the book Becks wanted to loan Marin was The Corrections. Like, my dude. NO.

A note on the audio: I normally bump up the speed on an audiobook, but usually to only about 1.25 or 1.5x speed because almost all narrators read too slowly for me. But this audiobook I had blown up to almost 3x speed by the end. So ymmv on this one.

I had to work myself up to reading this because "the male in authority taking advantage" storyline is difficult for me (how fucking obnoxious is it that what is need to say is triggering, but those assholes have taken valid words from me and made them sounds pretentious and snotty and damn it all.)

Anyhow, it was good. It was all too tidy, but sometimes we need a messy story that cleans up well I guess.

Finished this book in one sitting. It was like reading my own diary at that age, only (somewhat) less cringey.

Easy and quick to read. Quite engaging and enjoyable. I think I will add it to my classroom.

3.5/5 - This was a great feminist type of YA book. The thing I found hard with the book was the time passage. One chapter it would be one week and then it would be several months later. This is a short book and it left me wanting more. More stories about coping with what was going on, more discussions or a deeper dive into the subjects, just more. Being a YA there is some great discussions on female sports teams, dress codes for girls and so much more. This would definitely be a good book for a teen exploring feminism and what it can mean.

This book had me almost cry! I love the characters and the plot and it is just such a great read.

I didn't expect much of this book when I first picked it up, and as I didn't read the book blurb at first, I was a bit surprised at the turn of events - but that only made me enjoy the book more!

Usually, I can't focus on audiobooks, but somehow I could with this one. Maybe that's because of how important the subject is? Definitely a book I'll recommend, it's worth reading!
