such. beautiful. writing.

It's a beautiful and magical story that happened in three different places

I fell victim to the terrible title and cover image for the longest time in skipping this book. IT IS WONDERFUL! Three stories all beautifully crafted riffing on the theme of a kiss. The illustrations at the beginning of each tale are excellent and set the mood so well without giving too much of the ensuing plot away.

This was a great pick for my first book of the year. Shannon Hale recommended it on her blog and I really enjoyed it. It is a set of 3 short stories by Laini Taylor, all of them involving a first kiss. Each story ended too quickly and I didn't think the next one would be as good, but they were. Still trying to decide which one I liked the best.

I tryed one of Laini Taylor's other books before, Blackbringer, and it didn't interest me. She is very fantastical, a little more than I prefer, but I still think these stories were very well done. Probably would give it 4.5 stars.

Similar to Kelly Link's short stories, sassy and disturbing. I enjoyed the mix of seduction and danger. The illustrations were excellent as well.

5/5. These are wonderful! I am definitely curious about other books from Ms. Taylor.

Bizarre and beautiful, with amazing world-building despite the short length of each story.

I REALLY wanted to love this book as much as the other Laini Taylor books I've read, but unfortunately this is my least favourite . I'm pretty sure everyone knows I STRUGGLE with standalones. I usually need more time with the characters in order for me to be invested in their story, and sadly I wasn't invested in Lips Touch: Three Times.

I loved the writing and the setting, but I feel like that's all I enjoyed about it. Sadly I feel like I'll forget about these stories but I might reread it in the future.

These three stories felt vivid and ancient - like a dream filled with yearning, teeth and beauty.

Taylor's writing was masterful - fairy lushes folk tales in their own right. And every word felt carefully placed - woven.

I was completely encapsulated and spellbound from beginning to end. To the point of belief - second guessing the world as we know it. What if their was another soul looking through these eyes? Fate already fore-played by the hands of another? Through the flames into an afterlife, what form would I take based, through a devil's eyes, my way of living now?

Afterwards, I felt as though in the distance, a gentle wind had carried the sweet scent of honey peaches and had brushed my cheek. Leaving it's trace on my skin. Cultivating the feeling right before a wish granted.

Over the moon to have finally read Laini's writing (after being reccomended her work for a long time by multiple writers I deeply admire) and I cannot wait to delve more into the depths of her other works.

What an inspiration. What a wordsmith alchemist! Just... wow!

How embarrassing.

I just finished a Young Adult short story book.

About kissing.

But I blame Laini Taylor. She's one of the most amazing authors I've ever come across. I accidentally stumbled across her Fairies of Dreamdark and fell in love with Magpie Windwitch. Then I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Her only other book was Lips Touch: Three Times. So I checked it out of the library (thankfully they have automatic checkout), and snuck out of the library with it. But then I saw it had "AR" points for high school readers. *sigh*

But it's another beautiful book, that I'll recommend. I think I'd read anything by Ms. Taylor. It's not just the subject matter, it's the artistic way that she puts the words together. I can't remember when I've come across an author that is so compelling.

Geez. I hope I don't start sounding creepy and stalkerish. Cue the theme to Misery.
