Once again Angel is back and it seems that as she keeps trying to get further ahead in her new chance at life, be it zombified or whatever, things keep conspiring to push her back and cause her problems. I can’t promise no spoilers if you haven’t read the first two yet, so be cautious as you read on!

The Big Bad in this one is kind of new, but as with the last book, we have some of the bad guys who show up once again. And once again there may be some possible switching of sides, which we may not know about. First Angel almost gets hit by a truck at the local high school where they’re filming a zombie movie. She’s saved by the zombie she was forced to make in the last book, Phillip. So it seems like maybe he’s not a bad guy? But that opinion doesn’t last long when he is part of some other events that make him out to be still an enemy.

The doctor that was so evil in the last book is also back, maybe working for the bad guys this time. Angel is still having to deal with her boyfriend/zombie daddy Marcus’s often overbearing overprotectiveness, as well as his condescension at times. Her father is also a wild card, she can’t quite tell if he’s really working on not getting drunk all the time, and his attitude at times doesn’t make it seem he is. Fortunately Marcus’s uncle Pietro seems to be more someone that Angel can count on.

And it’s not only the bad guys she knows, but a new family and maybe a spy, as well as mother nature taking a swipe at Angel’s life as well. I enjoyed this one for sure, and am looking forward to seeing just what happens in the next book between the latest villains and how the people closest to Angel say they are working on things, and if they’ll actually do that.

About: There’s a zombie movie getting filmed in Angel’s neighborhood, and she joked a time or two with those aware of her condition, that it’d be fun to see if she could mix in among the fake ones after a couple days of starving. But someone beat her to it, and it wasn’t even funny! You see, the project Zoldier (like Soldier but Zombie) is still on, someone still experiments with the undead, with zombies. One of them lost his mind during a performance, and jumped to find himself a new one. Like Angel didn’t have enough on her plate, what with the flooding that threatens to destroy her home where she lives with her father, and the arguments she has with her boyfriend, and her ever re-appearing baby-zombie, the man she turned into one. Not to mention the creepy lady who keeps snapping pictures of her for some reason.

Mine: There’s so many moments of “who are you working for?!” that even Batman would be proud (points if you know what I’m referring to). Everyone’s a double agent too, it only seems they work for who they seem to be working for, what. I still think that Zoldiers was a dumb idea to start with, even if they, say, had basis to think there’s means to make fake brains, and keep off hunger, you still have soldiers who need buckets of food just to do the standard soldier stuff. I mean, there’s a great reason we have pig farms, not zebra, for instance. The parasite that makes zombie a zombie doesn’t give a damn about your goals, it just cares to keep you fixed and steady. The best part of the book was flooding. And that should tell you everything.

Angel really is the only thing that keeps me going with these series. I cannot give this book more than 3 out of 5 right now.

Honestly, this series is weird, but so is any series with a zombie as the lead character. A zombie that will rot and start eating people's brain if she does not get her supply of brains. Pretty gross actually.

But Angel is so nice, she wants to turn her life around. She has a nice boyfriend. She is a bit too curious but overall she is pretty great.

Why go on and on. Movie being filmed about zombies. Angel is in trouble. ZOmbie mafia vs the evil ones. Smooching. Brain smoothies.

A fun series that I would recommend. I did it! Short for once.

I absolutely loved it! The rating system seems to be broken on my app, but I plan to give it 5 stars. A fun, enjoyable book.

This installment of the White Trash Zombie series was something of a letdown after the first two. There's still humor and I am still enjoying the main characters and the little bit of overall story arc progression, but this book seemed slow to me. The most interesting things that happens are a flood and subsequent rescue, which have nothing to do with the ongoing secret zombie research plot. I missed the element of mystery - here there's not much to solve, and the movie framework just seems to slog along as choppily as the two misbegotten, flawed zombies do. I hope this is just middle book syndrome and the next one picks up.

Sometimes you just need a relatively uncomplicated story to listen to. It's been long enough since I listened to the previous book in the series that I started hankering for the next one.

I still like Angel. She's still foul-mouthed and sassy, and still trying to improve herself. This story has the added complication of a zombie movie being filmed in her home town. Some of the nefarious corporate interests are trying to use that to their advantage in their zombie research program.

As the story went along, I remembered my issues with zombies=just another kind of vampire. That, combined with Angel getting more wrapped up with elements of the semi-nefarious zombie researchers (but the GOOD zombie researchers! ::eyeroll::) made this story a little disappointing to me.

But I listened to it pretty much straight through, so I guess you could say it held my interest.

The Audible.com narrator is excellent, btw.

This one was really good except for a few minor points:

In the last book, Pietro was younger and looked older through the use of makeup and hair dye. In this one, he's represent as being 60 but possibly several hundred years old. But as far as the story has let on, he is Marcus' biological uncle so he's only been a zombie about 30 years (according to the last book). But this book it is hinted that his wealth and power come from many human lifetimes of being able to accumulate them. I was a little bugged by the inconsistency between the two books.

I really, really didn't like the special snowflake moment where Angel bit her zombie baby to control him. Something only zombie master who is a hundred plus years old. I want an explanation that makes sense - something that got introduced to her system when she was captive or got darted with the tranq. Something added to Phillip's system that made him more able to be controlled that way -but with her "feeling" that it was the "right thing to do", I think she's sleeping into Mary Sue territory. I hope that is not the case because I really enjoy this series and this character.

3.5 stars rounded up. A bit more formulaic than the previous installments, but it's still got those good-hearted vibes.
