Just as usual the series always have the previous volume end with the bang in the middle part of this volume. I like how the fast paced feel of the manga works well with the the heavy dialogue and superb characterization of the story. Also the new character introduced at the last half of this volume reminds me of Ryuk the Death God from Ohba and Obata's previous work Death Note. The timid and yet serious type of character. Also a hidden new antagonist who's behind the new character's "comeback" to the world of Shonen Manga looks familiar but I will hold off once the new volume comes out.

This series is a great read

Good volume. A bit wordy in parts, and not quite as inspirational as other volumes in the series have been for me, but a solid addition to the story. I enjoy how superhuman Eiji is, especially when he produces hundreds of pages of other manga series in his spare time when not writing/illustrating the number one manga in Japan and illustrating another series as well. I mean, who has time to eat or sleep? Us, humans! And as amazing as Ashirogi Muto is, they are meant to represent the everyman. They make mistakes, they fail to achieve their goals, they suffer jealousies and weaknesses, and they never EVER catch up to Eiji the manga god, but still they press on to get better and better. I like that message. I'll keep reading.

One good plot twist (that I saw coming, but whatever), otherwise kinda boring. This series is getting really dragged out.

I am amazed by Ohba and Obata's ability to tell these stories, of Mashiro and Takagi trying to create a mainstream cult manga, all the while they do the very thing themselves. I often realize after reading that some of the techniques that the characters use in the fiction are being employed in the one I'm reading as well. Meta, but in a way that I hardly see it at all.

This is a great series, I'm especially eager to find out what will happen next to Nakai and Hiramaru, that storyline is so hilarious that I find myself re-reading it a second time and laughing just as much.
