I loved the characters and the action in this second book of TDM series. So much was going on though, that I got confused at times, which might be my own fault. I really liked seeing Ruby struggle but also grow. Reviewers complain about her but I think she is very realistic - someone who had been through what she has wouldn't necessarily be confident, and teenagers don't always make the best decisions. But she's real, and true to herself and tries to protect the people she loves. All the characters are so well-developed and the plot is very intricate. Looking forward to #3.
First of all, I really like this series and the world building. I like Ruby, Liam and Chubs as characters, but this books have some "SECOND BOOK SYNDROME" I feel like a lot happened only to fill the 500 pages... and Vida, although I LOVE this new character I think is too cliche (Tough girl MUST ALWAYS BE TOUGH right?). But I ship Chubs&Vida xD. I like also Cole, and I want to smack Clancy A LOT. I cannot wait for the third book!!

Ok so I have to rant a bit about this book. First of all, not enough Liam at ALL. My second complaint is Ruby. In this book I found reading from Ruby’s perspective quite annoying. I understand that Ruby has been forced to adapt and keep her emotions in check because of the environment of the league. However, Ruby came across as rude and arrogant in the narration. She seemed to have this perspective that all of her friends and team were a nuisance and weak, especially Jude. Just because he doesn’t push his emotions down like she does doesn’t mean he’s weak, people have different strengths. Jude did nothing but show Ruby absolute loyalty and respect and she spent most of the book complaining about him. I enjoyed the plot though, liked the cliff hanger at the end and will continue the series to see what happens next. Also does anyone else find Cole a bit creepy?

Perfectly average. Not a bad read, maybe a bit slow at the beginning. Good enough that I’ll finish out the trilogy.
* Editing to say I saw other reviews saying this book put them in a reading slump, and I absolutely understand. I think I only got through the beginning because I sat my ass in a boba cafe for an hour and a half and forced myself to read it. Take that as you will. Perhaps as a warning.

I’d write a review but I’m so excited to read the next book...maybe that tells you how great this series is!!
These books are amazing. This book was ver entertaining with action and shock reviles.
Very good sequel. I love the progression of the story and the writing style of the author. The reason I did not give it 5 stars was because I felt the first book was much better. I also was not invested in the new characters. I wish we would have gotten more background on the new characters, like the bonus story on Vida at the end of the book. I still highly recommend this book!
