Never Fade adds some shades of grey to Ruby's world. It's a bridge book but it does a decent job of having its own story and contextualising Ruby's fears. It's also an object lesson in YA's capacity for suspension of disbelief: if this was for older readers Bracken might feel compelled to explain precisely how the US government managed to get away with throwing all of its children in concentration camps.*
*We could do with an explanation of this in real life, to be honest.

Liam is perfection and Jude is the sweetest cinnamon roll.
I finished this within 24 hrs. I simply could not put it down. I honestly cannot collect my thoughts right now to convey how I feel about this book and these characters.
It’s just so slow. I watched the movie after reading the first one and I wish the books had the pace the movie does.
3.5 stars
I was really confused for a couple of chapters (what a surprise) and I didn't like that.
One thing I really did like about this book is that we got a lot more information on Reds. I was also looking for more info on the world and the situation and such but I couldn't have both.

It was all right. It took a long time for me to get through it, and I read the bulk of it during a vacation where I didn't have all that much to do in the first place. Once the novelty of the first book wore off, it was a bit harder to get through this one where the story beats didn't seem as interesting.
Also the romance made me cringe a little because it was VERY dramatic. I am all for cheesy and even over-the-top drama but I dunno, it was one of those situations that made a good cliffhanger for the first book but was reversed in the second book... Lemme explain...
That's my 2 cents... I'm hoping the third book will be better.

Main character erased her love interest's memories because he would be made to suffer if he went with her to the Children's League but she managed to do just fine and make friends/connections while learning some valuable survival skills along the way... Yeah, there was some fucked up stuff in the League, but shit is kinda worse for children everywhere in this world lol might as well have been together, imo and kept each other safe xD Dude, he literally is almost dead by the time she finds him out in the wild, it was 1000% better in the Children's League where you were at least fed, clothed, housed, socialized, and trained. It was also so easy for them to run away during a mission LOL alsdkjfalsdf the hindsight just made the dramatic cliffhanger of the first book and the romance tension in the second book so stupid/unnecessary.That's my 2 cents... I'm hoping the third book will be better.
4/5 stars
Overall enjoyed this second book. Thought it was a great continuity to the first book. I liked the characters depth and the world bullying.
Even though there is a lot of action I was a bit bored sometimes and that is why I didn’t larked this as 4,5/5 stars...
I loved the new characters Cole, Vida, Judith.
I am going to read the 3d book right now !!

Clancy this dude will never die, he is no annoying ...
Can’t believed he tried to destroy his mother’s research on a treatment. He is just evil...
Judith’s death was so so previsible and that is why I wasn’t really sad. It’s always reported that he is weak, scared and young so I was expecting that.
I was so happy to see Chub again and Liam obviously I was waiting for this from the beginning !
I liked the tension between Ruby and Liam and the fact that he remembered loving her but no actual memories of her, the details of the way her powers work are very interesting.
I didn’t like Coke it’s a bit the confident brother and the nice little brother (Demon and Stephen in Vampire Diaries for example). But I was supposed to know he has powers too and he is red, I really enjoyed that cliffhanger.
Can’t wait to see Zu in the next book I really missed her.
Don’t we all miss Betty (the car) too ?
