Beautiful stunning awe-inspiring

Just. So good.

I liked the concept of it but the pacing was just wayyyyy too slow for me!! And the ending pissed me off too.

DID NOT FINISH: 3%

Think I enjoyed the concept of the book more but then again I lasted 16 pages.

3,5⭐️

Nice dark academia vibes and magic system (a bit complicated but interesting)

Insufferable characters, yes Emory AND Baz.
Saying she’s using you and your feelings, while clearly helping her to get her to love you ? Like couldn’t you help her as a friend and not expecting that she would love you back ? And then get angry when she doesn’t.
(Aslo contemplating denouncing her to the authorities that would most likely result in sending her to the same institute that got you dad detained and sick ???)

He felt like a pick me boy that fell in love to the only girl that speaks to him and expected to be loved back because he is nice to her. If I get one more flashback on them running in a field ONE (1) time when they were children istg

Overall repetitive and chapters too long

There were so many things wrong here. Starting with the insufferable female main character. Ending with how many times the author feels the need to re-explain how the very simple magic system works. Will not be continuing.

Baz is a sweet baby dumpling and he deserved better.

Notes: the book was basically covert narcissist has love triangle with standard narcissist and the empath they’re both abusing… all set against a lush and gothic landscape with an over explained and underutilized magic system and a plot that became increasingly illogical and ridiculous as the book carried on…

The endless descriptions of the (albeit cool) magic system… ugh

The detailed villain speeches and how everything was explained instead of experienced ughhh…

The random shortened nicknames that made no sense and the instant relationships that were cringe from the beginning?

The most interesting characters who I loved, Baz and Kai, were done such a disservice in this book. They would have made much more compelling main characters…

The potential of this book is the most painful part of how disappointing the execution was.

This book…it’s definitely one of my favorites. You feel like you are in the story because of the world building, and the characters are your best friends. Except for Baz. He’s the ultimate book boyfriend. This book had me laughing at one moment, frustrated another, and crying by the end and wanting and needing to read more. I would 100% recommend this book, especially to those who love Harry Potter and are looking to start a new adventure!

baz and kai were so wolfstar coded
