Read by the author himself, I found it to be charming but not as arresting as Tim Curry's narration.

So, far this is my second fave book in the series. However, Aunt Josephine being scared of everything was extremely annoying, and I know it was all a part of the storyline - doesn’t make her any less annoying though.
Then there is Mr. Poe of course, who continues to be just so incredibly naive. These poor, poor Baudelaire children.

I really enjoyed the puzzling out of the letter for clues. This wasn't as good as the first one still, but I think I liked it more than the second :)

I think we need to cut the aunt some slack. Her cowardice is based in neuroticism. Additionally, I have actually no clue during what time period this series takes place. The description of the soul sucking clown cafe leads me to believe possible the 90s? Regardless, I need more authors to adopt the prose of mx snicket.

Funny, clever, but again like with Monty in TRR, a bit disappointed in Josephine’s character in comparison to the series. Still amazing though!
