I just love silly little vampire romance books. They bring me so much joy! Carissa Broadbent is so good at writing these stories, and I was so satisfied with this standalone book. I appreciated the slow burn and the unfolding of Sylina's understanding of her past and current role, and the way Atrius as a character was unpacked was lovely. Chemistry was sizzling, plot was easy to follow, and I loved our spunky Sylina. All in all, a great read!

More plot tha hot

I liked this book. I think all of this author's books are a bit plot-centred, right? Even a book about the famous "smut" ends up being more plot than hookup.

I imagined the guy from The Witcher as the vampire. He's hot okay, don't  judge me.

The story itself is full of holes and with a lot of nonsense, but I thought the fantastic element was very well done and creative, I wanted an entire series just with these themes.

There are some parts that I think were forced to happen faster, without much development due to it being a stand-alone. It didn't bother me that much, but I don't know.

I confess that about 70% of the way through the book I started to get bored lol. It was just a very boring journy, but after that some stuff started to happen and i started to like the book again.

Overall, a good book. I don't think it is worth more than 3 stars.

The story's concept was truly intriguing, but it was riddled with several inconsistencies that made it difficult to appreciate. The most significant issue was the unexplained resolution of how the protagonist dealt with the loss of her friend to vampires. Although it was brought up in the beginning, the story never revisited it, leaving it unresolved.

I found it hard to comprehend how
Atrius, the MMC who was betrayed by the protagonist, could forgive her so easily. This was a crucial part of the book that took a while to unfold, so the sudden forgiveness felt like a major plot hole.

With that being said, the book was still enjoyable, particularly due to the protagonist's remarkable character development.

I enjoyed the unique perspectives of the main character, especially weaving in her past experiences as a drive for her present choices. Unfortunately the love interest fell a little flat for me, as he had very little character development and very little personality. Serpent and the Wings of Night had a much more favorable romance dynamic with a much more dynamic love interest.
