I enjoyed this. Unfortunately once I got to the end (like last 25%) I had a hard time finishing. I just felt a little burned out on it or something, I'm not sure.

I really liked Sylina as a lead, it was an interesting aspect to have her vision impaired. Her motivations and actions felt realistic based on her history. Atrius was a fantastic MMC, and I loved that he was a very compassionate character (especially since he was a "conqueror"). The ending did feel a little "same-y" to some of the other books by this author:

dramatic meeting with a god(s) and some kind of sacrifice or otherwise twist outcome

The very last 9 months later chapter (thankfully not a reveal that Sylina was pregnant/had a baby!!) seemed to be setting up something coming either in the second book of the shadowborn duology, or maybe the bloodborn duology. It was interesting and added a little background on Atrius's family, but I am wondering if it was tacked on to the edition I read (Owlcrate). It probably wasn't fully necessary.

Overall this was a nice addition to the series and world it takes place in.

I really enjoyed this! I would recommend reading or re-reading the first books, but I still enjoyed it despite not doing so. A compelling romance, but sheesh the main characters background is dark.
