3 ⭐️ I think I would’ve liked this book more if I wasn’t in such a reading slump, but here we are. This standalone fell flat to me compared to Raihn & Oraya’s duology. I would’ve enjoyed more crossover between this book and theirs. I also felt like there were some ideas/subplots that were copy and pasted from The War of Lost Hearts series and it would’ve been more interesting if they were interconnected vs reimagined for this series. The ending felt rather unfinished, but I’m assuming we’ll tie up the loose ends in Mische’s duology. Overall I would still recommend reading if you’re a fan of the series.

i didn’t love this but still enjoyed it none the less
didn’t think i’d say this but i felt there wasn’t enough vampireness? i liked atrius but the way he acted and was described, it was like he was just a proper strong guy who could fight with horns on his head

This is my least fav of her books at this point, BUT I did still enjoy it! Just hits the bottom in my ranking. I can't see myself ever re-reading like I have with the others, but I could see others enjoying it!

it was ok!
It was an ok book I guess! I really enjoyed FMC, MMC kinda fell a bit flat to me, I expected more from a vampire conqueror type. The villain was quite obvious from the start, and I think there was too much left to the reader to interpret things like “I knew exactly what she meant!” And I’m here like well I don’t! What did it mean???? And the whole vampire theme, was very weakly portrayed, not much vampiring happening… It almost felt like it could be any other species and the story would just stay the same.

Another gem in the Crown of Nyaxia novellas, this one dives deep into the world of side characters with just as much intensity as the main series.
We follow Sylina, an acolyte of the goddess of fate. In return for power and the ability to see the threads of fate, these acolytes sacrifice their sight as children and are trained as assassins and seers. Sylina is tasked with infiltrating the ranks of Atrius, the vampire conqueror, to earn his trust—and then kill him.
But in forced proximity, things are rarely simple. Atrius proves to be nothing like the tyrant she expected: he protects human lives and seems far more just than the king ruling her homeland. The real problem? Acolytes who walk away from their cult are hunted and brutally killed. Sylina must choose between her survival and what’s truly best for her people.
I freaking loved this. The magic, the gods, the battles—chef’s kiss. And Atrius? My goodness. 🥵

This was pretty good. I honestly hate these cult storylines. They give me the biggest ick. But overall I really enjoyed the story.
