I really enjoyed how this book was more war/strategy/action. While that’s not usually my cup of tea, I love this world and I love Carissa’s writing. Through the first books in CoN we learn a lot about Nyaxia so it was really cool to learn more about the White Pantheon gods more and Acaja specifically and the Aracessen. I wasn’t nearly as invested in the romance as I have been in Oraya/Raihn and Vale/Lilith but it wasn’t bad, just not my fav.

Need to reread
This was probably my least favorite in this world so far but still a great read and love building more into this world with another couples story. Found the ending a little bit underwhelming and slightly rushed and were a few parts I felt unimportant to the story line but regardless, still enjoyed the book and will keep continuing on to the next duology 🙂

This was a nice little addition to the series! This is described as an optional novel inbetween the two duologys but I think it adds a little more depth to these characters who show up in the Shadowborn Duet book 2.
I really love Sylina as a character. She's so conflicted, wanting to do her duty to her Goddess but also torn between her own wants, desires and what she thinks is actually right.
Atrius is just a big lover boy! He is made to come across in the beginning as this big bad mean tyrant who wants to Conquer the whole world but really he's just trying to get through one day at a time and he is a big sweety!
I love their relationship! I love how Sylina sees through the Conqueror facade to who he really is deep inside and I love how Atrius can see that Sylina isn't all she projects to be on the outside. I think they compliment each other beautifully.
There's a big element of found family in this book, the Vampire warriors all look up to Atrius but they also all lean on and support each other.
I love Erekkus as a side character! He's just an absolute yapper which reminds me a lot of me! I love how he has such loyalty to his family and friends and he's such a funny character!
I love how the plot of this book starts off with the Conquering of the towns but ends up being so much more than that in the end. Twists, confusions, betrayal, romance... this book has it all.
Very glad I did read this as I wasn't going to but as I said before I think it brings so much more depth to the story and these characters which would seemingly be very unimportant and fleeting without this novel.
