A Winter's Dream by Sophie Claire

This book was good and about what you’d expect from a cheesy Christmas romance. Predictable endings, things that made you roll your eyes, small towns, etc. This is not the type of thing I like to read year round but I’m a little more open to all the cheese during the holidays so it was a great December read for me. If I could, I’d rate 3.5/5 ⭐️

As the days grow colder and the nights draw in, what could be better than curling up with this lovely, heartwarming story by Sophie Claire? The third in a series but easily read as a standalone, A Winter’s Dream has everything you could possible need or want from the perfect festive read to escape with this winter. There is a warmth to this author’s writing that draws you into the lives of the characters from the outset, soon finding yourself emotionally invested in the outcome of the choices they make. And then there’s gorgeous Charlie, Liberty’s Labrador, who even the coldest of hearts would find it impossible not to warm to!

Liberty loves the quiet life she lives in Willowbrook with her Labrador, Charlie. But when a mysterious gift arrives Liberty decides to make some changes, starting with a daily challenge to say yes to everything for the whole month of December. What could possibly go wrong?!

She soon finds herself with a new housemate, Alex, who is searching for a new direction in life after an accident cuts short his promising motorcycling career. As the sparks fly, will living together prove to be a step too far for this unlikely pair? Or can Liberty and Alex put aside their differences long enough to help each other as they come to terms with the hand life has dealt them? As the snow falls and they find themselves cut off from the outside world, one thing is for certain: life is never going to be the same again.

What follows is a lovely, warm and emotional tale that once started I did not want to end! I loved spending time with these characters and could quite happily have carried on reading about Damselfly Cottage, the picture perfect village of Willowbrook and the wonderful people who inhabit them. Sophie Claire’s gentle writing and gorgeous characterisation brings this charming story vividly to life, making it feel like you’re being enveloped in a warm, cosy hug that you don’t ever want to break free from!

A Winter’s Dream is a beautifully written, heartwarming festive story of friendship and love that I thoroughly enjoyed. Pure escapism at its very best! I loved it.

Cutesie, fun, romantic. But quite predictable. A fun read for the new year.

Loved the friendship themes throughout the book. Also loved the depth of knowledge about quilting.

Such a warm and comforting book. I haven't actually read this complete opposites but not really attract couple idea before and I really loved this. I related so much to Liberty and seeing her slowly open but but also Alexs perspective of her courage was amazing.
