Nam Le is a very competent writer, but their work is not for me. One story I was unable to read (I don't cope with stories about drunkenness); the others are gloomy in general and harrowing in many cases. These are stories worth telling, but I'm not sure I would have chosen to read them.
The stand out for me is Hiroshima, which is a prose poem from the perspective of a child who was evacuated prior to the atomic bombing. As a reader, knowing what is going to happen is quite disconcerting, and the finishing point was a bit of a sucker punch.
Equally harrowing is The Boat, which is about an overcrowded refugee boat.

Graphic: War
Moderate: Death of parent and Child death
I'm definitely missing some content notes.
