I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book! It is definitely a product of its time, but I found it easy to relate to the main character Poppy regardless of the 70+ years separating me from her story. I also am generally a fan of slice-of-life stories, which this definitely is. Characters come and go, there are mini plot arcs for different characters, and no overarching story besides Poppy working at the newspaper. It's fairly lighthearted, with a few darker threads, and overall I'd definitely recommend it to almost anyone!
Moderate: Death and Abortion
Minor: Violence

I liked One Pair of Hands and One Pair of Feet better, but this was still a good read.
