Okay, so I've seen this book a lot and it looked semi-interesting at first, but the cover always intimidated me. Yes, I judge books by their covers; that's what the cover is there for. It won't always be an accurate assumption (it wasn't this time) but more often than not, the cover is a pretty good indicator of what you're dealing with. I thought it was gonna be filled with corny typical YA writing like other YA mysteries I've read, but it wasn't. It was fast paced so you never really had time to be bored. It moved quickly and the chapters were short, so it was easy to get through. AND THE PLOT TWIST?! I guessed everyone but the killer.
Spoilers below so if you're not comfortable with that, I suggest you stop reading here.
Spoiler I guessed everyone in the book before I figured it out. Was it a good plot twist or am I just bad at mysteries? I don't know, but I didn't expect it, that's for sure. It's Lia. No, it's Briggs. Wait, it might be Sloane. Actually, the agent? No, must be Micheal. DEAN?!?! And then it was finally revealed, and it was none of those. But I'm taking off a point because I hate love triangles. Well, I don't hate them per se but they're infuriating. And it's not even because she's not picking the one that I want, I can't pick either and that's why I'm mad. Dean or Micheal? Have we heard of polyamory?

personally I guessed that it was Locke was sure of for like half the book. Honestly have never been so confused in which side I’m on in a love triangle.

jennifer lynn barnes is great at writing books that 13 year olds will eat up. she excels at easy-to-solve mysteries, farfetched plots, and always shoehorning a damn love triangle where it doesn't fit!

is this a crossover hit? hell no. but it was super readable and i see why the kids love it.

It was a quick and fast-paced book. I can agree with others that Michael and Dean do feel similar to Grayson and Jameson. Definitely looking forward to reading more of the books in the series!

This book was a lot of fun, I can't wait to continue the series. There was enough twists and turns to keep me engaged. I read the book in 2 days!
