I really really liked this book (as I am a Lukas Grey stan through and through) but there were some things that did bother me.

Some of the POVs felt a little pointless or maybe underused? Like we got Therrien and Sparrow in the beginning and then never again and we randomly got a Rhys POV who isn’t even a main side character. The absences of Diana/Jarod/Yvan were heavy losses in this book, and without the large cast of side characters that the previous books had, it made this book feel a little claustrophobic, as it was just Lukas and Elloren for the majority of the book.

ALSO can I just say that killing off Lukas CONVENIENTLY right before she realizes Yvan is alive is a COP OUTTTTT. I want the drama!!! The confrontation!!! Make the girl make a difficult choice for once in her life!!! Also I was just hurt by Lukas’ sacrifice because he has become such an interesting character and seeing him interact with the rest of the side characters would have been so fun.

But on a more positive note, the scenes between Lukas and Elloren in this book were IMMACULATE and I loved watching their relationship grow as well as seeing the pay offs of Lukas’ character development. He is a well-rounded and compelling character with many complexities and it shows.

Anyway Lukas baby I’m so sorry they use and abuse u i would never treat you like that RIP to them but I’m different

I think this is a trend in fantasy books, where the mfc gets truly annoying. Is it a prerequisite for them to go thru this period of not believing in themselves and just whining and lashing out. It's very frustrating. Elloren is well aware that the people around her are trying to train her and make her strong for what's to come, but she's fighting them and whining about Lukas not being nice to her.
On the other hand, I wasn't too bothered by her accepting Lukas. She was still grieving for Yvan, but survival was the name of the game. Plus, we learned why Lukas did what he did with the handfasting. I think Lukas is one of the few characters who has made logical decisions.
This book introduced a lot of new characters. Not sure if it was completely necessary, but I'm not mad at it. I'm open to seeing what they contribute to the story going forward. The dark fae is very interesting.
Not my favorite book so far but I will continue with the series.

Probably my least fav book of the series so far. Felt like the book could’ve been summed up in 5 chapters

I thought this was going to be the last book of this series but it is not which is both great and horrible! The wait for the next one is going to be excruciating! I had a bit of a hard time getting through the beginning of this book because it jumped around a lot however, it was well worth it! I wish I had my copy of The Iron Flower handy so that I could have done a quick refresher before delving in to this one but I definitely won’t mind rereading it!
