This book blew my mind. It was so dark and the ending fucking crushed me. You should know up front that this book does not have a good ending. I have never felt this much emotion from a book before. It was a wild ride but I had already known who was behind the attacks for awhile. There were so many aspects of this story that was challenging to read but I'm glad I stuck with it. The first book isn't as good IMO because it does a lot of flashbacks to build the story but this book makes up for it.
One important note for me. I wish the author listed a TW for. While I enjoyed the book, if I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have read it.

I understand why people have a hard time explaining this duet. It's really not a romance. It's a dark, emotional, contemporary book. Dealing with heavy content such as sexual assault, murder, and medical content. The FMC is having a hard time dealing with her life and we're past the time when she idolized her stepbrother and stepdad. She's now realizing that she's stuck here and no matter what she does her stepbrother will never let her go. Things do get really graphic in here and although there is an ending in here it's a pretty sad one. It's just a very emotional read and at times super hard to read because it is so graphic. I do really wish we had dual POVs or even got into Shay and Keenan's POVs in this one.

The taboo relationship between Mina and Shay is twisting more. Now she’s mourning her mom’s death and has severe ptsd. She’s stopped communicating with Kennan (her secret boo) for a few weeks because Shay is smothering her and refuses to leave her alone. She has a broken leg and her ballet career and dreams are ruined. She finally talks back with Kee and he is trying to convince her to run away and get away from this life because she deserves better. She and Shay are taboo af rn making out and doing more bf gf things than sis and bro things. She forgets her phone on ring and Kee starts to text her and Shay goes off the deep end. She calls her stepdad asking for help because Shay’s losing it; all awhile Shay is ripping apart everything to find this hidden phone. James steps in and Mina grabs phone and box of notes and runs into woods to try and get away. She finally calls Kee and he is hysterical thinking she’s in danger and wants to go to the house and save her. She knows Shay will never let her go so she tells Kee by and that she will stay. She powers off phone and buried the box in the woods. Then walks out the woods and tells Shay she chose him and that she isn’t going to leave him. She loves him and understands he’s toxic but stays out of safety of Kee. This mf tattoos her as his property and makes her wear a cut proving she is his property. Life goes on until Kee starts popping up again where Mina sees him. Gavin helps them meet up in bathroom in hopes Mina leaves. She tells him that she loves them both but she can’t leave because she’s scared he will follow her. They start sneaking off to meet and MF Cody finds her and he gets killed in a tussle with Keenan. Gavin lets the cat out the bag that Shay was who killed her mom with the Faceless Crew. So Mina runs home to her stepdads and tells him everything. He knew he mf knew about Keenan, but also orchestrated her and Shay getting together in hopes it would help his soon not be so uncontrollable and crazy. After she and her father spend the afternoon explaining everything Shay pops in and tells their dad that Faceless knows what he did and needs to get Mina out. James hugs and kisses both his kids and takes off to “fix it” knowing he’s telling them goodbye. Shay brings her to their house and finally is selfless and puts Mina first and gets her to safety. He sends her with Gavin to meet up with a contact of their dads to keep her safe. Gavin brought her to Kee. Her dad’s final act was saving her from that lifestyle. Then Shay goes home knowing that Faceless is coming and offs himself.
Epilogue happens and they visiting the graveyard Mina and Kee with a 2 year old with Shay’s eyes. And Mina is telling Shay goodbye. While her kid runs around with his dad’s dog tags around his neck.

Im speechless, I mean, I don't know what to think about this, all the manipulation from Shay, was so fucked up and twisted, the author, Dylan did a great job cause my feelings about this was weird and some point I felt... fucking disturbed, idk, feelings that I can't control myself and I can't describe it
