This duet is hard to chew. Heavy on the triggers. It makes you feel uncomfortable, angry, heartbroken... This duet is not a love story. its a series of fucked up experiences over the course of young Mina's life. This young girl knew nothing else. She was blinded by love, family and loyalty.
If you thought Torment: Part One was intense, you better double knot your shoes and pull on your big kid britches, because it only gets darker from here.
Mina only has one thing in mind… Keep Keenan safe. When Shay finds out there is another someone in Mina’s life, Manic comes out to slay. We thought he was passive before but now it’s all Mina can do to keep Manic under control and how does she do it? By submitting, mind and body. As the manipulation continues, Mina starts to fall in love with Shay just like he wanted. But will it stay that way? Can she escape his grasp and manipulation?
There was so much going on in this book and it kept me completely immersed the entire time. I was so invested in finding out how Mina’s story would turn out and it was definitely not a HEA. My heart shattered for everyone by the end and I couldn’t believe how the duet ended.
Though it is tough and taboo subject matter, I absolutely loved it. The grit and the honesty portrayed by the characters despite how it is received outwardly, was something so real and deep that I began to feel the pain they felt. I can’t wait to read more of this world.

I don't understand how i came from angry and furious with Shay to cry and maybe wish for a HEA?Am i ok?No. I haven't become this heartbroken since A Little Life. Recommended but not for everybody.
I’ve never read a book that has left me so torn with mixed emotions & absolutely wrecked!!
First of all, at the end of book one I just had this gut feeling that Shay was behind the attacks & was heartbroken to know that I was right:

Genuinely, my brain stopped functioning after reading this book.
I’ve never experienced the sheer hopelessness of a character before. There’s always an element of safety and strength from the FMC. This book destroyed all that.
The sad acceptance of her ongoing imprisonment, physiological torture and rape was brutal.
I understand the lack of Keenan in the book but I don’t understand the dislike for the character. His scenes were so beautiful. Aside from the stabbing I guess but even that held a certain quality about it.
Absolutely reeling.
