It's one of the most beloved series in the English Language for good reason. The character of Sherlock Holmes (and the doctor on whom the character was based) are "of a singular nature" as Holmes would put it. Sherlock Holmes has captivated audiences through his ability to see all sides of a situation so as to ascertain the most complete view of the case. Perhaps, the most intriguing thing about the character is his sense of ethics as a mostly neutral, sometimes lawful kind of good.

In short, Sherlock Holmes is perhaps, one of the most powerful fictional characters I've ever encountered in literature.
