The prose is rich, the love story is tender, and the atmosphere is palpable. It feels like you are travelling deeper and deeper into a dense, thriving wood.
Graphic: Blood, Injury/Injury detail, Death, Violence, and Kidnapping
Moderate: Body horror, Bullying, Confinement, Gore, Grief, and Gun violence
Minor: Medical content, Alcohol, Sexual content, and Animal death
The novel does explore social isolation, especially within small towns, and what it is like to be a pariah to a community you once belonged to.laurareads87's review against another edition

Silver in the Wood feels, to me, like what I could lovingly call druid fiction -- a queer Green Man in a mysterious forest who has become local legend but is very much alive, dryads, fairies, and wise old spirited oaks. Tesh manages a lot of atmosphere -- you can feel the forest -- in very few pages, and I was left wanting to go barefoot into the wood to find a tree to sit with. Beautiful. I will say that I was in some ways more captivated by the world than by the plot, though I really like Tobias Finch as a character. While I did not love the ending, it also left me wanting more of this world so I immediately bought and started the sequel. Recommended for lovers of forest lore.
Graphic: Kidnapping and Confinement
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Gun violence, Violence, and Death
