It’s been a while since I’be read a book start to finish in one sitting but I just couldn’t put This Mortal Coil down.
Many aspects are familiar: post-apocalyptic world, mysterious illness, advanced society, gene hacking and inhuman abilities, etc. but Suvada is a gifted storyteller and pulls it off beautifully. This would make for one hell of a movie, without a doubt. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Um. I need the sequel IMMEDIATELY. Read the rest of my review (and maybe join us in reading) in our bookmess coming out on 4/20 (coincidental): http://tinyletter.com/jessandtessmee
Once again, another book I’ve left for ages, but wish I had picked up sooner.
I loved the apocalyptic setting, which is just realistic enough to appeal to me, and the idea of the technology that allows all sorts of cosmetic changes, healing and a whole host of things was really interesting - the possibilities of something like that are endless!
The characters were really well described and fleshed out and I’m looking forward to picking up the second and third books. There is also a prequel novella, so plenty to be getting on with.

Fast-paced, genuinely shocking surprises, unique futuristic concept...what's not to love?
A great take on the end of the world as we know it that had some pretty slick twists and turns. Very well written and full of action and even some romance. Great YA read.
I'm not quite sure what I expected from this book but it wasn't...that. However, in the case of This Mortal Coil that wasn't a bad thing.
This is a very twisty book with an interesting cast of characters. The world building, especially around the virus, is fascinating and it's all written in a way that's easy to understand. I was, however, surprised by how bloody this is in places. There's some rather visceral scenes with one of them describing Cat cutting into her own arm. So if you're squeamish, be aware.
I'm actually surprised how much I enjoyed this book so it's definitely worth a recommendation. You might just be surprised by what you get.
