A very sweet book perfect for summer.
emotional funny

This was such a sweet, fun, and different summer romance centered all around a family game of Assassin at a wedding. I listened to the audiobook, and truly enjoyed getting to know the entire family, and watching Meredith & Stephen fall for each other, and watch Meredith work to heal her heart one day at a time on Martha’s Vineyard, after losing her sister. This was a YA book but it didn’t have that feeling of being too childish, or too old, it was perfectly written!

And it would make an adorable movie!

I would've given it five stars, but the ending felt dragged out for me.

WOW. This book was amazing. I was laughing, giggling, throwing the book, walking away due to SHOCK. It was great. I now understand why everyone praises this novel so highly. The grief felt so real, and I felt it as well. Us, as the reader, never meet Claire; she's just mentioned to us. But the way that Mere feels about her sister and losing her, it felt like I had also lost her. I admire that from K.L.'s writing. She wrote that portion of the story so well.

The banter was immaculate. I felt as though when the truth was revealed, it wasn't about the game it was about the promise. It showed humanity in the characters.
I do feel like there were some things that some people took offense at that shouldn't have been offensive.
You give someone social cues, they try to tell you something, then they think you're giving those cues and decide to respect that. When they tell you that's the reasoning you get upset? I would appreciate that someone thought they were pushing a boundary, and thought it'd be best to respect said boundaries.
Also, Luila, Luli, Luili, whatever her name was pissed me off. I get it, your friend disappeared off the face of the Earth and then came back like it was nothing. I'd be upset too. What upset me was that she got upset that her feelings weren't considered. I get it, Mere wasn't the only person to lose Claire. But Claire was her sister so she's dealing with the grief hardest-- right after her parents--and you have to put that into your perspective. But a simple reminder, I gave two points of why I understand why Luili was so upset. No hate towards her, she's a baddie, but those moments had me like "ugh!"

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I would recommend this to someone who likes books similar to "Love & Gelato".
