I’m sorry but this was so, SO cringe

Ugh im so frustrated
I really expected this to be a 5 star read too

It had the ingredients of a good book but so many things were pissing me off like they became a couple instantly and it made 0 sense actually. Even in the end of the book i have no idea who the side characters were, they took that assassin game WAY too seriously and also this was way too similar to that breathless book that i dnf:d. They were essentially the same to the point that i kept mixing them up while i was reading

Not my thing 🧀

After reading a disappointing book (IYKYK), I decided to give this book a chance. I hardly read romance and when I do, it’s not YA. I liked the premise of the family game (I’d actually like to do this with my own family one day) during wedding preparation festivities. Apparently, there are songs from Taylor Swift referenced in here, but honestly I don’t really listen to her music so I don’t know if that aspect was done well.

It started as a cute story, and it definitely is a step up from another YA summer romance book I read last month, but I wasn’t really sold on this. It felt very “meh” and basic. I personally didn’t find anything in here that was extraordinary or anything that stood out. I mainly kept reading this because 1) I don’t hate it, 2) I bought a physical copy of it & didn’t want to waste my money, and 3) I wanted to see who won Assassin. I also feel like there were WAY too many characters, especially since Meredith didn’t really talk about them or TO them. I think towards the end, she threw in new ones she’d never mentioned before so that was confusing. Also, I liked Meredith but asides from her grief concerning Claire, I didn’t really care about her. There was nothing definitive about her; she felt like a carcass. Wit too. Both of their characterizations were not executed well, but I still wanted them to be together at the end. It was a pretty fast read and I flew through the book. I think if the Assassin game wasn’t a thing, I would’ve DNF’d if I’m being honest. No one/nothing in this book would’ve been interesting enough to continue.

But it’s still a cute, easy read so if you’re in the mood for a wholesome romance, go ahead and check this out!

literally so boring, go from strangers to best friends in 2 days. female main character is closer with this random guy than her friends she’s known for years.

I loved this book! It was a cute and easy read and took me back to high school. Playing assassin was such a fun concept to base a book/love story around. It’s a really light read, nothing too serious, and lots of Taylor Swift references which I loved.
