Overall, a masterful narration and a solid production overall. In a world where audiobooks can sorta start to blend together, this one puts forward a phenomenal one-man-show that lets it stand out. I think there could have been some tweaks to audio editing to allow quieter moments better clarity, but that might not be an issue with headphones and/or slower playback. If you're looking for an audiobook that highlights the power of a voice actor in affecting emotion and general storytelling, Concrete Rose is definitely one to check out.

MC smokes weed once, sells weed and other drugs during book. Many depictions and mentions of gang culture & violence. No depictions of moment-of-death/killing, but does depict finding someone just after being killed. No sex scenes, but does include 17-year-olds in pre- & post-sex scene, conversations about condoms, and teen pregnancy. N-word is used among Black people, not by whites.itsmeyseniab's review against another edition

This book was very fast-paced and action packed while still managing to feel like a "slow burn" story where we got to know the ins and outs of Maverick's teenage years (his senior year of high school specifically). This novel made me feel a wide range of emotions - I couldn't put it down!
Mav was a standout character for me when I initially read The Hate U Give, and I'm so glad we got his backstory and got the opportunity to see how he grew into the man and father he was during THUG. The supporting characters were great as well - I especially loved his mom and Dre (and their relationships they had with him). The amount of care that Angie Thomas puts into all of her characters is fantastic! I feel like I know them beyond their surface level characteristics which, as a reader, I appreciate immensely.
If you are a fan of Angie Thomas I HIGHLY recommend picking this up!
