Underdeveloped :( why do we care about the MMC? I found myself rooting for the pirate instead… Fun and a quick read, but not as good as the others in this series

2.5 stars. Rencey ruined this book. Everyone else was a good character, he is just an ass. The book ends with 'Rency and his adventures continue..." and I'm like 'oh please no'.

This book was so fun. It had pirates, baby krakens, a handsome prince, some mystery, magic, and of course, romance. What is there not to like with all those elements? I also just enjoyed the way Everly was able to write the story, bringing it to life with intrigue and humor. Definitely a book I recommend to all lovers of fantasy and romance!

I could not put it down! It was such a fast-paced, fun, mysterious ride!! And it had pirates, so of course I couldn't put it down. Gotta love pirates! The entire storyline was so intriguing and kept me guessing the entire time. I loved the concept of multiple suitors, such a great way to keep the mystery going.
I love a fierce female lead and mysterious male lead and Reva and Jareth definitely delivered on that. They balanced each other so well, he calmed her and she brought him out of his shell. Jareth was such a strong but quiet character and Reva was brave and stubborn.
Rency was a fun, unexpected character. I hope he gets his own story because he definitely kept things interesting on top of this already intriguing story. Reva and Rency were so fun together and provided some laugh out loud moments!
I really enjoyed this one and hope to read more of this author's books!

My favorite part of this story was Rheva herself — the plain-speaking princess who is deeply full of duty to her people — and how she ultimately finds a way to make her happily ever after come about. Excellent, a definite 5 stars!
