wow. i went into this book a bit confused as to why at age 24 madison managed to write a memoir already. but man.. did she have a lot on her plate. there was so much i did not expect to be unveiled in this, including a couple of incredibly uplifting messages laced with her past experiences. madison is incredibly grounded and mature for her age and i can’t help but be so proud of her for using those traumatic experiences that may hold someone like me down for ages and soar to a new and better self. i expected this to be a lot about her, and while it was, this also made me think a lot about myself and my self worth. she put a lot of things in perspective that had me spiraling in a new (and positive) way. i want to say even more about this but all i can think of is wow.

i love madison so much so this was very interesting to read, even though at some points it felt a little repetitive or surface level. i still did like the book alot and even balled my eyes out at some point, so its a solid 3/5 for me.

I had such high hopes for this book. Ever since Jennette McCurdy’s memoir came out, I’ve been so excited to read more autobiographies of stars I grew up with. Unfortunately, it felt very surface level most of the time and lacking depth and detail. I love the message that everyone needs to be kinder to each other, but it was hard to really dive into Madison’s story. I was hoping for more detail into her experiences, but most of the descriptions were brief with a reflection at the end.

although short , this is a vulnerable memoir (including journal prompts and answers to fan questions) touching on madison’s rather unique experience of navigating childhood fame, growing up under the eyes of millions online, and dealing with mental health struggles. i’ve seen a few reviews which say they wish there was more depth here, but madison is only 24 and has a lot of life left to live, so we can’t really expect wealths of wisdom, and i don’t think that’s her intention anyway.
