Fairest. The story of Cinderella, this time trying to solve a murder mystery as all the 'fairest in the land' (there are amusingly many of them) are dropping like flies. It's actually a fairly decent murder mystery and while you completely expect that there will be some way (MAGIC!) to bring them back in the end, there's still a chance that they might not.

It's decent, although there are better Fables stories. Better Fairest stories even.

Spoilers:

Fairest-01

True enough. Cinderella is a fun character.

Fairest-02

That's actually a pretty good point. Especially given at this point, she's had to choose who lives and who dies in a handful of situations...

Fairest-03

That's such a crazy scene. And a crazy car. I wonder if/when that will go wrong (as with so many things in this series).

I really loved all the different art styles in this book. All the artists did a great job. The story was interesting. I wondered how Hadeon was going to take her enslavement and the answer is not without a fight. I always enjoy Cinderella and it was cool to see her taking center stage in a non-spy tale. Hoping that the other half come back because Fables can't really die if their stories are popular.

Do I have a review? Yes, read it just before Fables 136. Do I have anything to add? Yes. WHY DO YOU PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THIS? IS IT JUST A GAME TO YOU? IS IT? That is all. Thank you.

This wasn't the throw away I expected it to be. Instead, it brings Cinderella (always my favorite) in to deal with a mystery murderer, and ties into some ongoing plots in the Fables line. You can read this without reading the earlier Cinderella books, but it's best if you're caught up with Fables up to #19 Snow White, because there is a huge spoiler in here for that trade.

If you've read all of Fables up to this point, my review is probably not going to convince you to read this book. So just go read it, and enjoy it.

Another Whodunit starring the Fables Princesses. Cinderella has to figure out who is murdering the pretty princesses. Brings back an old Fable, and a strange twist. I don't know why they used so many artists on this and why it was broken down into so many parts, but it was an average read.

This is a decent extension of the Fables universe, which depicts other storylines. I wanted to really enjoy this one, but I didn’t. I’m having a hard time pinpointing why. One reason for my dislike is the use of a committee of artists. I wish it were more cohesive. Overall, I enjoyed the idea behind the story arch, but I felt like it was missing something, further character development for starters. I also discovered an upsetting spoiler right away which didn’t help. I thought I was going in order, but apparently not. :(

It's the first spinoff from Fables that I read and I really enjoyed it. A detective story with Cinderella in the lead, thrilling to the last page. What makes this even more interesting and great is the fact that not one but 27(!) different artist contributed to the book! So every 4 to 6 spages the pencils and colorings change. And it matches the episodic narration perfectly.

As it works completely fine on its own, you don't have to be familiar with the Fables story at all. But if you are, there some nice hints and mentionings.
