What the heccckkk, Mercer is the brattiest little love muffin and I want nothing more than to scoop him up and love him forever. ๐Ÿฅน  From the first chapter, you can tell he's off the rails.  He craves and demands attention through high energy, disruptive outbursts and sex as a manipulation tactic.  But what goes up, must come down and with an inability to regulate his emotions, he closes in on himself as a form of self preservation. The more you learn about his past and the treatment he endured, the more his behavior and coping mechanisms start to make sense.

Enter Blake -  who is immediately intrigued by his feisty behavior, aversion to authority, and penchant for lacy underthings.  Can't even blame him because honestly, me too.   He doesn't really know what he's in for when he brings Mercer home, except that it makes his job easier trying glean family secrets from him. But he quickly recognizes Mercers behavior for the vulnerability it is and things start to look a little different.

I love the way Blake handles Mercer and challenges him to reconsider his perception of himself.  It's not about punishment or 'taming' him.  Mercer has been punished his entire life.  It's about learning consequences and recognizing his own value.  I honestly can't think of another book with a similar dynamic (rec's?) and I ate it up.

Also.  My friends. The spicy spice that is tangled throughout their story...holy moly.  I feel like the authors pen had a mainline straight into my brain and cherry picked my favorites things to put right inside these pages.  And it is glorious. ๐ŸคŒ

I loved every bit of this story and already know there's a reread in my future.

*I received an arc in exchange for an honest review

This was enjoyable! I liked reading about Blake & Mercer, the whole bratty thing, the possessiveness, the trying to get attention (even though it seemed a little bit over the top at times.) I have no idea about those childlike coping mechanisms so I can't express my opinion about them. But the spicy scenes were really, really good....
That's actually what I love about her books, the relationship between the two characters, the bickering, the dynamic, the hot stuff. But that's it. I couldn't come to care about the rest of the plot or any of the other characters. Except maybe Aaron.

Want to start off by saying this was a lot of fun and I enjoyed reading it, but maybe the brat thing is not my thing, so take my review with a pinch of salt.

Writing was great, just like I expect from Nordika. The spice was spicy as hell! Like maybe one of the spiciest, dirtiest books I've read (definitely up near the top). I wasn't mad at it, but it did make me blush a few times. The story was also really fun. I just don't think I love bratty characters, so it wasn't a slam dunk for me. If you do, I think this was done so well, and you will probably love it!

Mercer and Blake were such perfect for each other. The way in which Blake stood by Mercer was amazing. I loved that even though their was a bit of a Dom/Sub vibe, there was a unique dynamic that didn't result in the familiar power exchange and punishment type of treatment.

Also, whilst it's a bit angst-y and lots of feelings, there was a perfect balance of fun and spice.

One of my parts from this book is when Mercer thought this:

"He is the only person in my whole life to treat me with this level of respect, and to be honest, I love it so much itโ€™s overwhelming. Verge of a panic attack overwhelming. I never realized good feels can be just as overbearing as bad ones."

The plot of the story was fine, but I feel like there were times that can make you stop and think, "What?' 'How?' 'Um'. Which pushed this to more of a 3.5 rating for me.

BTW, check the TW and CW as there are several kinks that and triggering topics.

I loved this book! And will be preordering a physical copy asap! am so in love with Mercer and Blake
