A very digestible book broken down into moments rather than a long reflective narrative. Listening to McCurdy read this herself was heartbreaking at times, especially as you hear what is obvious as abuse to an adult but understandably, not an adoring child manipulated since birth. I truly hope that McCurdy found mostly healing and peace in sharing her story so intimately.

My first real attempt with an audio book, really enjoyed!

Beautifully sad and well written. Jennette was vulnerable in her memoir and what she endured as a child actor with an abusive mother. It hurt my heart to hear the struggles she went through. I’m so glad she is doing much better!

How does one rate a memoir? A window into someone else's life? How does one consume someone's joy, their trauma, their ups and down and then proceed to give it a ranking (I ask as I go on to rate this)

This was ... heavy, insightful and unabashedly truthful. I can not effectively tell you how much this book has impacted me. A life of living someone else's dream in the hellish landscape that is the child star industry. No words can communicate this book and the pressures of having an abusive mother.
