Wow. I remember watching Nickelodeon as a kid and thinking how cool it must be to star on these shows. While Jennette's story certainly isn't everyone's story, I don't think it's terribly uncommon. As stories come out, its becoming more and more common for young actors to have been through abuse to some degree. This book, and various other stories, have completely changed my POV surrounding childhood fame. Not a single person, especially a child, should have to experience this kind of trauma and abuse.

Everyone wants fame to some degree... but is it worth it?

It was so difficult to read about the abuse from her mother. Children trust and love so blindly. Its just cruel to take advantage of that and break down a child into something you wanted for yourself but never had. To imagine the amount of stress and burden Jennette was carrying at such a young age is a painful reminder that unfortunately there are family situations as bleak as hers. I hope through her recovery she is able to grow and show herself the unconditional love she gave to those who were not deserving

Wow. What an important book. The author's candor and perseverance are just so amazing. So much of her experience are things I could never relate to, but some are, and I'm grateful for her reflections and wisdom. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes memoirs. It's one of the best I've read.

I completely understand this is Jeanette’s story and she is still walking on her journey, there are moment within this book, I wish she could provide more clarity as to how she felt. Still a very in depth take on a child who grew up with a tumultuous relationship with her parents.

A tragic biography that gives an insight of the horrors of being a child actress, the effects of abuse, and the ordeal of a certain cartoon company keeping things under wraps. Tragic, upsetting yet humorous at times.

Beautifully written

Books of this nature are normally difficult to get through. Not this one. The pace of the book is perfect. There are no parts of Jennette’s story that drag. The story is very absorbable in a manner that you are never found wanting. There are parts here and there that are graphically sexual, but this doesn’t dilute from what is a very well written message of how Child acting ruined the childhood of a talented actress. Reader should check the content warnings before reading.
