I really enjoyed reading this book. Jennette McCurdy is an excellent writer and the vulnerability it took for her to share her story is unmatched. I was extremely invested in this book and could not put it down. When I watched iCarly as a kid, I could never have imagined what she was going through during the time. This book did a really good job at demonstrating how we perceive different situations as a child versus an adult. Jenette didn't even realize the pain and trauma her mom had caused her until years after she passed away. It was really tough to read some of the more uncomfortable parts of this book such as
her mom giving her showers and exams until she was 18 and provoking her to count calories as a young child. It was also hard to read about Jennette's struggle with bulimia, especially the graphic scenes about her throat bleeding.
But, I am happy that she included these stories because it was raw and real. I was happy that Jenette was able to receive help and therapy in the end. I hope that Jennette is doing better and never suffers another day in her life because she deserves the world! This book was difficult for me to rate, but for now I give it a 3.5 because of how it compares to other books I have read. This book was an amazing auto biography, but it is not the genre that I find myself gravitating towards and for that I gave it this rating.

I gave 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' by Jeanette McCurdy three stars. While her story about grief and self-discovery is touching and the subject matter is tough, I couldn't fully get into the audiobook. I tend to get extremely distracted whilst listening to audiobooks so I don’t know if my review is a fair assessment . Maybe if I read it instead, I'd connect better with her journey. Perhaps I’ll give the physical copy a reread in future.
