I found myself not wanting to listen because of the unrelenting trauma. And I get it--that's her life. But the lack of reflection throughout, choosing to stay current, made it much more difficult to take, like listening in on a therapy session without the therapist (in most chapters).

While I found the story overall fascinating and am very grateful she's in recovery, I almost wonder if she would have benefited from more time and practice before writing this. Maybe her writing would have improved and the work would have felt more balanced.

I hope she has a chance to grow in her craft and write more.

The author is very brave for putting her story in writing and sharing it with us. I hope she continues to heal and be a role model for change for others. I liked that she wrote about the difficulties of her life with honesty and humor.

Pretty much what I expected. McCurdy is a good writer and is extremely charming and relatable.

The best memoir I've ever read. Her ability to add humour into such a dark story is amazing.

Very quick read/listen. Eye-opening to the life of being an actor in Hollywood, especially a child actor. If you watched Quiet On Set, you’ll be interested in this. Definitely a bit sad but very well told and informative.
