Mafia Target is the fourth book in The Kings of Italy series and can be read as a standalone but since it is interconnected with previous 3 books, and the events overlap each other, it is my recommendation that you read the previous three books first and then read this story. The book contains themes that might be triggering for some readers so do proceed with caution.
Mafia Target is a story about Fausto's son, Giulio, whom we all have met and loved in book 1 & 2. It is a story about his life after he renounced his birthright as the Ravazzani heir and how he fell in love with Alessio, the assassin who was hired by Enzo to put out Giulio. I love these kind of queer romance because dayum, enemies-to-lovers/stalkers that trope is rarely explored (from my range of books) I love such romances.
Before I go onto review my favourite parts of the stories, it is important that I tell you that this Mila Finelli's first MM romance and tbh, she hit the target (ha, get it

Alessio has been hired to take our Giulio, this in retaliation for things happening in the previous three books, so I don’t want to spoil what.
However, when Alessio met Giulio for the first time, he didn’t shot him, he got on his knees for him instead.
Now Alessio must decide whether to ruin his reputation and not complete the job, or kill the man he is starting to catch feelings for. He also doesn’t want information about his past to be revealed to Giulio.
I listened to this book as an audiobook, and it was very well narrated, however Giulio’s voice sounds like Dracula

DNF @39% this is not enemies to lovers and the writing isn’t doing it for me.

I can't believe I finally finished reading this book, I didn't even read the epilogue and that's a good thing btw cuz I couldn't bring myself to read about their wedding, all I know is that it's a happy ending alhamdulallah. I have been putting this book off for a while cuz I didn't want to finish it and then I'd have to let go of the characters, but finally I did.
This book was surprisingly not that bad at all, it was intense and I never really read books like this often. I am a big fan of silly romances, but this was the complete opposite, lots of blood and torture that I am not used to but this is a mafia romance afterall.
Unfortunately, the only problem is that this book has some random smut scenes that were completely unnecessary, like they just ended this horrible man's life and cut off a finger or two and now they're humping each other at night in a dog park. No shame whatsoever heh. It made me feel like the author was writing and then suddenly remembered she has to add smut to attract "readers"
I am excited to read the next book and continue seeing the other characters in the next book although the next book is LITERALLY CALLED "MAFIA VIRGIN" how am I supposed to tell my sophisticated nerdy friends that I'm reading a book called Mafia Virgin, I will never be taken seriously ever again
