When I saw the post on instagram about this book I was pretty damn excited about it, because mm mafia romance? Count me in. I stopped reading books which are giving strong "365 days" vibes, but I decided to start the series from the first book to know the characters which obviously will appear in the "Mafia Target". And look, I tried ( I really tried ) to read the first book, but when the hero said he was jerking off to the heroine's mother when he was younger, it was the end for me.
Let’s start from that the potential in this book was huge, seriously. I mean, a runaway mafia heir who escaped because his sexuality wasn’t accepted in his position and "the best" assassin in Europe who was supposed to kill him, but instead everyone know how it ends.
I think the biggest problem for me was the writing style. I wasn’t a fan of it, I even wanted to dnf it at the beginning for that reason. It might also be only me, but the Italian made me cring in some moments. It’s not about the language itself, but the sentences the main characters said.
The plot was great, there was a lot going on in this book, but almost everything went too smoothly for them. The relationship between them also started too fast, I wanted more angst and pinning but instead there was a BJ scene in 5% of the book. I love smutty books, but I like when the smut starts after 50%, here they did it at 30%. They were both hot don’t get me wrong, but I hoped it will more slow-burnish. Weren’t they supposed to hate each other? If you want enemies to lovers, look the other way. The two were perfect for each other, but, they were basically in love around 50% of the book.
I mean it was cute, but in the 43%?!
I love the scenes where they were possessive and cute for each other, they were worth the reading.
The book was also RIDICULOUS at some moments. Examples:
Alessio was supposed to kill Giulio, but both of them went for a run in the morning a few times.
Giulio needed more money even though he had 5 mln dollars.
The moment when Alessio wanted to borrow the laptop from Russian pakham, trusting he won’t spy on him.
I also hated the moment when Giulio said that to Alessio, I get it you were mad at him for what he did to your father, but this man didn’t even know you back them, and was paid to do that.
It was so UNNECESSARY and SAD after he told you he loved you and would basically die for you?
Giulio’s friend Theo who is a famous designer and his love interest Nic, who is a Russian Pakham, are supposed to get their own novella, and I will definitely read it.
I have a feeling I will love their story.
The ending was satisfying and all, but I was hoping for their wedding in the epilogue. I need to stop expecting so much and hype myself up before starting the book, because most of the time I end up being disappointed. Overall, I enjoyed reading it, but am I going to read the next book? No.

“Your problems are my problems. You’re not getting rid of me, principe. I will fight for you with my dying breath.”
I mean it was cute, but in the 43%?!
I love the scenes where they were possessive and cute for each other, they were worth the reading.
“I would endure a hundred beatings—a thousand—for you. There is no amount of pain or suffering I wouldn’t take in your name.”
“You are my concern, Giulio. Always and forever, no matter how much you hate me.”
The book was also RIDICULOUS at some moments. Examples:
Alessio was supposed to kill Giulio, but both of them went for a run in the morning a few times.
"We continued to run, neither of us speaking. I preferred the silence, though I was keenly aware of his presence, of his exhales and heavy steps."
Giulio needed more money even though he had 5 mln dollars.
"Soon I would need money and another fake passport."
The moment when Alessio wanted to borrow the laptop from Russian pakham, trusting he won’t spy on him.
"I also planned to ask Nic for a laptop so I could do my own digging. But I also didn’t want to leave Giulio’s side."
I also hated the moment when Giulio said that to Alessio, I get it you were mad at him for what he did to your father, but this man didn’t even know you back them, and was paid to do that.
“It won’t change anything. I don’t need you and I don’t love you. Just like your parents.”
It was so UNNECESSARY and SAD after he told you he loved you and would basically die for you?
Giulio’s friend Theo who is a famous designer and his love interest Nic, who is a Russian Pakham, are supposed to get their own novella, and I will definitely read it.
"Theo ducked his head and smoothed his already-smooth skirt with one hand. “I think I might like him,” he said quietly. “It’s disgusting.”
I have a feeling I will love their story.

Mafia Target is the fourth book in The Kings of Italy series and my first book by this author. This book can definitely be read as a standalone. I chose this book because of the intriguing plot about an attraction between an assassin and his target and it did not disappoint.
Giulio Ravazzani is the Italian prince who abdicated and gave up his crown. He is a gay man who left the mafia and is now on the run to stay alive and keep his family safe after a car bomb killed his love, Paolo. He leads a lonely life constantly moving around the globe using aliases, making lucrative drug deals, and hooking up with strangers at night clubs until a handsome and deadly man changes his plans.
Alessandro (Alessio) Ricci excels at being a killer. He was a decorated sniper in the Italian Army and is now make fuck lots of money as an assassin. He is the best at what he does until he missed a target after being distracted by a gorgeous man who happened to be the target's son. Now karma has come back to bite him when his next target is the man he wants. However, this is a job to him. He is collecting a paycheck. The target is beautiful. It's a shame he has to kill him.
The tension is so hot as Alessio and Guilio circle each other. Alessio's story is so heartbreaking with parents who didn't want him and who made him feel unloved. He was a quiet and awkward young boy who felt he was a disappointment to his father who thought he wasn't normal. His silence is what makes him so deadly and so compelling. Apparently, I like the strong, silent type. Alessio's pursuit is exciting as we see his skills at work. His unusual seduction of Guilio is a thing of beauty. I like that Guilio brings out feelings in Alessio so much that the normally quiet and careful man can't stop expressing them.
Guilio is the opposite of Alessio with his charm and magnetism. However, Guilio is mafioso so he enjoys the thrill of killing. So much so, that Alessio's deadly intentions turn him on. The slow downfall of these two men is inevitable as they butt heads at first and call a truce for a month to satisfy their attraction to each other. Love was not something they had considered because of their circumstances and there's the fact that Alessio has an unforgivable secret. I was angry and heartbroken about how it was revealed. It seemed like they would not have a chance after all until love prevailed. Yet, there is a cliffhanger that had me wondering what will happen next.
I highly recommend this gripping plotline filled with angst, action, sizzling chemistry, and romance. The characters are well-developed and engaging as they fight their attraction and face their challenges. On to book 1 for me.
Thank you to Ms. Finelli for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC and I am so incredibly thankful. I have read every single one of these books on there release days, so to be able to have early access to this one was amazing.
Just like the first three Mafia Target did not disappoint. Mafia Romans are some of my favorite books to read! It is very rare that you come across a MM mafia romance, let alone a very well done one.
I love being able to catch up with Giulio. I really did fall in love with his character in Mafia Mistress so being able to pick up on his story in the past four years, since the beginning of the series was awesome.
I love his relationship with Alessio. There is nothing hotter than the assassin who is hired to kill you unable to kill you because they just wanna bang your brains out. The sexual tension/chemistry was outstanding!
I was under the impression that this was the last book of the series, but with that ending…
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
