I liked this book the best out of the series. The main characters were on equal footing for once, probably because within this misogynistic world the woman are portrayed as weak and the men are emotionally abusive. With the two main characters being men, neither one was portrayed as weak, letting both of their personalities have space to breathe.
The story was sweet (for a dark mafia romance) and the love felt organic.

They were amazing characters. Alessio gave a blank-faced vibe but branched out with Giulio. I love how they couldn't deny the pull, even when it risked Alessio's life. They had cute moments and banter. The side characters really added to the story. I was expecting a 3rd act break up, and although I don't like them, I feel like this one was needed.
This is a true enemies to lovers and I absolutely loved it! The way that Alessio and Giulio met then Giulio finding out that Alessio is trying to kill him was so wild to me. I never thought that the book would start like that but I do enjoy how Alessio goes into detail about the first time that he saw Giulio. The way that Alession talks about it is so artistic and something that I really enjoyed reading because once they accepted their situation, it truly becomes so heartfelt.
Alessio was truly a, touch him and I'll kill you character when it came to Giulio which I honestly loved seeing. Alessio was a character that felt like a cup of cold water because it has been so long since I've enjoyed a character that was so complex. We really get to witness his struggles and conflicts which is something that I really enjoyed because it's hard to get that from characters. I really wish we got a little bit more of his backstory just so that I could understand him a bit more but I still really enjoyed who he was as a character.
As for Giulio, I was mostly amazed by him because there were times where I was surprised by his resilience since I know there were times where I would've probably given up. There were many times where I got so nervous for him because he truly was alone out there, even if it was his choice to do it alone. I know his father offered help but Giulio was truly trying to show his independence and that he truly could survive. Honestly, there were moments where he stood up for himself that I loved because he just showed everyone wrong on what he's capable of doing.
Overall, this was a really great beautiful book. Is there killing and murder? yes, but it's a mafia so of course there's going to be that. I just loved how much the love between Alessio and Giulio can be felt beyond the pages. Also, the freaking angst was so wild and I loved how they were literally falling apart when they weren't together. Hopefully we get to see them in future books!

I did quite like this book. Great story line, original concept, hot!! I found the connection between the two voice lacking in chemistry and man I just don’t love Amato’s Italian accent (second time hearing it). But the book itself was great and makes you feel so much for Alessio!
