"They say folding a thousand cranes will grant you a wish.
I wish what it is you've wished for.
I hope so much it will come true"

Pariat's Nine Chambered Heart is a poetically and lyrically beautiful written novel. Her narrative comes out to be very unique and is quite different compared to other romantic novels.

This book as the blurb says is "a compendium of shifting perspectives that follows one woman's life.." Set across unnamed cities with unnamed characters, this book is poetically and lyrically beautiful on its own. She waves lyrics and poetry  into beautiful prose and encapsulates how a person can have different perspective of another person.

The author gives or associates the men to different professions. That if you ask me, i do not know. But ig it's based on how that person reacts.
The best part is how you can use the pov's of these 9 men and put them together to see what the character of  the woman in the book is.

Wonderfully written

I'm confused what to say about this book. It's something that I have never came across. It was really amazing and a but weird to read that a woman is in relationship with her teacher at the age of twelve and at different stage of life she is in relationship someone till the age of 40s.
There was only one thing which I was curious to know at the end of the book was the name of that woman about which this nine men are talking about. But there was no clue about the name of any characters, only few geographic explanation was given about that places where those men spent time with that women. Yes, right this is a story where there is not a single name. And. I think this makes it more interesting (at least for me). Author has done a phenomenal job while writing this. I have learned from this book that admiring someone is not only about love or lust but it also print a memory of that person in our heart and mind which is nearly impossible to forget through out our life and same was with this nine men
They have remembered each and every moment which they have spent with her so sharp that it seems it just took yesterday.
Author poetry knowledge was also reflected in this book as it has remarkable lines. Language was moderate and writing style is amazing. Cover and name of the book is wowww.... these was also one of the reason I picked up this book and really loved it.
Just give it a try you won't regret.

I read the excerpt in scroll.in, fell in love with the style, the lost cats China and India, intrigued me. I gift the book to my teacher, who finds it decent. I utter about it in my book club, and Indrani di unbirthday gifted me.

A nameless woman is being reconstructed and retold by nine characters who have loved and nurtured her. The nine characters have no name but metaphorical titles from Saint to Butcher to Florist to Undertaker and so on. The woman of their thought is intelligent, beautiful to her lovers, and most probably suffers from depression and has Electra complex. She falls in love with married men twice her age, is aloof but has attachment problems.
It's a poetic book, with beautiful lines to pick up and drop at parties. Nothing is ever clarified, I think Bangalore is the city without a river? The small town in east must be somewhere in Meghalaya, but they can be anywhere.

Have we seen this woman, yes she is everywhere in literature? Don't we all love a human who has the personality of the cat, the one that expects to be loved but never loves back and chases the wrong?
Does this book have anything to contribute? No.
But, I do want to be this sophisticated wine sipping hedonist woman—narrated by others, hence her identity shifts from narrator to narrator. I would have loved if each narrator had distinct voices, after a while, they all read similar or maybe that was the intention.

If ever I allude someone, I want them to write something like this about me

Цю б концепцію краще написати.

It was interesting in the beginning and I was intrigued by the writing and trying to figure out little details about the person who is being described, but then after a while it feels like individual pieces and not one collective picture that all the other people are trying to portray.. The style of the book made me believe at first something significant happened in the persons life and maybe the narrations are describing it.. But it didn't ever seem to make a big picture...

Beautiful and creative writing. Brilliant analogues espicially the origami one stuck with me. Relatble flawed down to earth characters with whom its very easy to empathize with.
